Paddy McGill Lecture

The annual Paddy McGill Historical Lecture takes place in the Ardara Heritage Centre this coming Saturday 14th September at 8pm. Speaker will be Helen Meehan.

Ardara Community Library

The Ardara Community Library will re-open, after the summer break, on Wednesday, September 18th, 2013. Zumba Classes

Pilgrimage to Knock

The Legion of Mary national pilgrimage to Knock takes place on Sunday 29th September.  A bus will leave the Church of the Holy Family car park at 8.30 a.m.  Fare €25.  Contact Evelyn O’Byrne at 9541144 or Maria Kelly at 9541407.

Ardara Parish Council

Ardara Parish Council Meeting in the Community Centre on Wednesday 11th September at 9pm. All area representatives are asked to attend.  Everyone welcome.

Cookery Classes

Cookery Classes will commence in the Heritage Centre on Tuesday 10th September from 7.00 to 9.00 pm and will continue for 8 weeks. To be part of the Classes and to learn some excellent tips from Shiela Sweeney please ring 074 9537905 to book.

Dancing in the Heritage Centre

The Set Dancing in the Heritage Centre on Monday nights will be at earlier time 8.30pm to 10.30pm with Clement Gallagher instructing. New Members are always welcome and it is a great way to get some exercise and have fun and laughter as well. Admission €5 and refreshments are served.

Circuits in the Community Centre

Circuits starting in the Ardara Community Centre on Mondays and Wednesdays from the 2nd of September. Monday 2nd September: Ladies Class 7-8pm, Mens Class 8-9pm.  Wednesday 4th September: Mixed Class 10-11am. The Johnny Doherty Weekend

On Thursday 26th September at 8pm a Special Plaque will be erected on the Diamond to the memory of the late Johnny Doherty. This is very much the highlight of the Opening Day of the Festival weekend. The Headline Act will be Cherish The Ladies who recently were nominated for a Grammy Award.

Pitch & Putt Competition

The Ardara GAA Ladies Board scheduled Pitch and Putt Competition which was to take place last Saturday 7th September is now taking place this Saturday 14th September at the Pitch and Putt Course at Sandfield. The 1st Tee is at 11.30 am and the last Tee is 6.30pm. Admission is €5 and we hope to see a good turnout on the day.

Jiving Classes

Thursday 19th September Jiving and related Dancing Classes start in the Heritage Centre at 8pm. Everyone is most welcome, Beginners or anyone who enjoys Dancing.

Sympathy

The sympathy of the community this week goes to the Family of Marette Stewart who was buried on Friday and to the Breslin Family, Castledoherty, on the death of Annie Breslin.

Drama Classes

Weekly Drama Workshops for all National School Children have recommenced on Mondays at 5-6.30pm in the Ardara Methodist Church Hall. Wheelchair Access. Classes provide training in acting, storytelling, role play, voice, mime, dance and relaxation in an atmosphere of group co-operation – and are guaranteed lots of fun.
