Two schools in Donegal will take to the dance floor tonight and tomorrow night in what promise to be a breathtaking showcases of the talent that both schools have to offer. Coláiste Cholmcille Ballyshannon and Scoil Mhuire Pettigo are busy perfecting dance techniques and polishing their dance shoes in preparation for their big nights.

Two schools in Donegal will take to the dance floor tonight and tomorrow night in what promise to be a breathtaking showcases of the talent that both schools have to offer. Coláiste Cholmcille Ballyshannon and Scoil Mhuire Pettigo are busy perfecting dance techniques and polishing their dance shoes in preparation for their big nights.

Coláiste Cholmcille Ballyshannon have eighteen couples lined up to hit the dance floor tonight in the Great Northern Hotel Bundoran. The battle will commence at 7:30pm when not only the talented students of the school but also some four teacher couples will battle it out for title of Coláiste Cholmcille Strictly King and Queen.

Choreographer Julianne Murphy has used her considerable her dancing skills and expertise to ensure that each and every couple is at the top of their game with their perfected routines. With their unique spin on the show, it is sure to be one not to be missed.

Not only have the couples been rehearsing around the clock, but with the help of their PR teams they have been busy rallying up support to help them take the crown, although their fate all lies in the hands of the superstar judging panel and the audience on the night. The panel includes All star footballer and All Ireland winner Karl Lacey who is no stranger to skill and technique. Former Tanáiste Mary Coughlan will also adjudicate, along with talented young boxer Jason Quigley who again knows a thing or two about fancy footwork. Shona Timmoney adds her expertise on dance to the panel with local celebrity Billy Grimes completing the line-up

Donegal’s own Noel Cunningham will host the night and is sure to add his own spark to the event. Interval entertainment will be provided by Farragh Bogle along with other suprise guests that are sure to leave you speechless.

Tickets are on sale in the school and can also be ordered on 087 702 3935 - ticket prices are E10 per adult and E5 per student/OAP. Tickets are also being sold in Ormston’s Mace Ballyshannon.

Another school preparing to showcase the fine talent that their pupils have to offer is Scoil Mhuire Pettigo. The pupils have been practising for weeks so that they too can wow the crowd with their showstopping steps.

Pupils from junior infants right up to sixth class will hit the stage in the Aghyaran Centre tomorrow night. The show which starts at 7pm includes many group dances as well as couple dances from the older pupils of the school. With the high level talent in the school, it is promised to be a wonderful night’s entertainment.

The teachers of this school have decided to leave their dance shoes at home and leave all the dancing to the pupils. The show is full of energising routines and infectious moves that will leave you reeling for more.
