Trad for Trocaire on Tory Island

Tory Island is the most remote of Ireland’s inhabited islands, lying 12 kilometres off Bloody Foreland on the north Donegal coast.

The island has 130 people with Patsy Dan Rodgers as the king (the only remaining place in Ireland to retain this tradition).

Local priest Father Kieran Creagh organised a Trad for Trocaire night second to none in Tory Social Club on October 19th.

The night began with the local children singing and playing their traditional instruments - accordion and concertina.

A beautiful buffet for everyone was prepared by the local Café.Then followed a monster raffle with 12 prizes,all donated.T

en of the island musicians played their hearts out while the locals danced the night away. Added to that there was many a Sean Nós song until the dawn.

The overall night is one to remember but best of all an overall amount of 1,591 euro was raised for this worthy cause.
