Sympathy : Deep sympathy is extended from the whole community to the family and friends of Tomás Maguire, 1 Radharc an Ghleanna, who died tragically in Western Australia last week.

Parish stunned: The news from Australia on Monday, June 4th, of the death of Tomás Maguire (24) of Glenview Park, has stunned the parish, as his family and friends try to come to terms with their loss. It is the second blow in the space of a few months for the Maguire family, following the death of Martina (16), a cousin to Tomás, earlier in the year. Tributes have been flowing in for this star of the Ardara GAA . There was a memorial Mass for Tomás last Sunday, June 10th, at 6pm in Saint Joseph’s, Subiaco, Perth. We are thinking of all of Tomás’s friends in Australia, who are mourning his death so far away from home.

Ardara Show Society Prepares : The move to the open spaces of Sandfield for the 2012 Ardara Show on August 11th looks set to create one of the largest events in the show’s history. Set within a very scenic area, the huge acreage available will ensure that the key livestock section will be presented to the benefit of both exhibitors and spectators. With a number of championship qualifiers in the 60 plus cattle, sheep, horse and pony classes, the section is set to attract entries from the county and the rest of the country. While the afternoon programme is still being fianalised, one of the headline acts will be a display by Ukrainian Cossack horseman Sergiy Khimich. A key member of the Zaporozhian Cossack Show, he has performed widely in Ireland, the Dubia International Horse Show and the Royal Melbourne and Royal Adelaide Shows. He performed at the Ardara Show in 2009 and his daring equestrian exhibition of horsemanship prompted his return to Ardara. Also a key part of an exciting afternoon programme will be Corvvenieos Entertainments presentation of the popular Toy Story. Visitors, young and old, will have an opportunity to meet Woody, Space Ranger, the Toy Soldier, Rag Doll, Lotso and other characters. And children will be able to meet all their favourites at a special arts and crafts camp where they will create their own masterpieces. The characters will join later to present a magic show. “Our aim is to present something for the whole family, and we believe the 2012 show with certainly achieve just that,” said afternoon programme co-ordinator John Couzens. Over 120 classes will be in the giant marquee. The dog show, judged by Mr Martin Potts, will include a round of the All-Ireland Gun Dog Championship. Among themany other displays will be the Mid-West Donegal Vintage Club.
