The Late Margaret Doherty: The death took place of Margaret Doherty (Maggie), nee Boland, Sessiaghoneill. Maggie died on her 94th birthday at her home in Sessiaghoneill.

The Late Margaret Doherty: The death took place of Margaret Doherty (Maggie), nee Boland, Sessiaghoneill. Maggie died on her 94th birthday at her home in Sessiaghoneill.

After leaving Meenglass School, Maggie trained as a dressmaker in Nee’s of Letterkenny. She was very much in demand for all sewing jobs, especially wedding and bridesmaid dresses as well as being a good mother to her six children and helping out on the family farm when needed.

Maggie’s Requiem Mass was concelebrated by Fr. Patsy Arkinson and Fr Martin Chambers. Readings and presentation of gifts were done by her grandchildren.

She was laid to rest with her husband Tom who died in 2008. Maggie is survived by her three sisters, Sr. Regina, Dublin, Mrs Lilly Thomas, Birmingham and Mrs Rose Agnes Mc Dermott, Corlecky. She is also mourned by her six children, Thomas, Danny, Neil, Mary, Martina and Claire and their families. May she rest in peace.

Thank you: The Ballybofey & Stranorlar Tidy Towns would like to thank the leaders and all the young people from The Planet Youth Senior Club who did a clean-up in last week, their hard work was very much appreciated.

Twin Towns Friday Club: The Twin Towns Friday Club headed to Carlingford in County Louth on April 22nd. Thirty-six members enjoyed a great holiday for four days which included some touring, dancing and of course shopping.

The group stayed in Mc Kevitt’s Village Hotel which they found to be a very friendly and homely place to stay in.

A very memorable holiday was had by all. The committee members would like to say thanks to Bus Eireann for providing the comfortable bus.

Historial Society’s Schools’ Competition: The final of the Donegal Historical Society’s Schools’ Competition will take place in Jackson’s Hotel on Wednesday at 7pm.

This year’s very popular theme is “The Gathering” where pupils were invited to promote their local area’s history and heritage from a visitor’s perspective.

Everyone is invited to come along and talk to the pupils and their teachers. Tea and light refreshments will be provided.

Twin Towns Celtic Supporters Club: New Club merchandise will soon be available and a big thanks to McKelveys Bar for their kind sponsorship.

Tickets for our Annual Draw will soon be on sale.

Creative Writing for Young People: The start of the creative writing course for young people in the Balor Arts Centre aged 11 to 18 has been put back to Monday, May 20th at 6.30pm. The course will run for 6 weeks and costs €50. Enquiries contact Gerard Doherty at 086 7355536

Beginner Ladies Golf: Coaching continues at the Golf Club each Sunday at 7pm. Even if you missed the first session (the weather wasn’t very good) please feel free to come along next Sunday.

Meanwhile the Junior Girls got off to a great start with over 20 young girls turning up for the first session.

Meenreagh Social Centre Dance: A dance will be held on Saturday, May 18th in Meenreagh Social Centre. Dancing will be from 10.30pm to 1am and music is by Tory Sound.

Refreshments will be served and everyone welcome.

Twin Towns Community Garden: The Twin Towns Community Garden is organising a day trip to the Bloom Flower Show at The Phoenix Park, Dublin on Sunday, 2nd June. Participants will also have the opportunity to go to Dublin Zoo which is located at the same area.

Strolling group: The Tuesday Strolling group will continue to meet at 11am for the next few weeks. The meeting point is at the Old Parish Centre, Stranorlar.

Farming Workshops: A series of farming workshops will take place in St. Mary’s Parish Centre, Stranorlar over the coming weeks starting with a Health and Safety workshop on Friday, May 31st at 7.30pm. Admission is free and refreshments will be served.

Cardio Ceili: A Cardio Ceili class will take place every Wednesday at 7pm in Kee’s Hotel, Ballroom. No previous dance experience necessary. Beginners welcome.

Finn Wheelers Cycling Club: A beginners night will be held each Wednesday evening for the month of May, leaving the Villa Rose at 7.30pm. The club also organises club runs every Saturday and Sunday morning.

EP launch at the Balor Theatre: On Friday, In Their Thousands launch their 3rd EP at the Balor Arts Centre featuring a brand new moving image and visual show.

2012 was a big year for the band, winning the Guinness/2FM/Hotpress unsigned band competition; releasing their first two EPs; appearing on the cover of Hotpress and being nominated for Irish band and Irish song of 2012 in the magazine. A night not to be missed.
