World Record Attempt Glenties 2013
2013 is not just the year in Glenties but the target number that has been set for the world record

2013 is not just the year in Glenties but the target number that has been set for the world record

attempt for the most leprechauns gathered in one place. Why the number 2013? This is the year

of the Gathering and when better to celebrate the Gathering than on our very own national holiday

St Patrick’s Day?

We are going for the record attempt again in Glenties on Sunday 17th March. People

travelled from far and wide to be with us last year and we were very close to achieving the World

Record, we just lost out to Bandon in Co Cork.

This year we need your help to a break the record, everybody from neighbouring towns and villages please come and join us, to everyone from all over the county from everywhere in the country “Glenties Needs You”. This event last year drew a massive amount of media coverage from RTE, national and local papers so this year we want to show them that Donegal don’t take losing a title to lightly. As we are the only town going for the record this year we feel with your help we certainly can set a new record.

If you would like to join us you can order an outfit by either calling into the Market Hall on Monday,

Wednesday or Thursday between 7pm and 9pm or on Saturday from 12noon to 4pm you also can

call Brian (087)-9354012 or email your information (size)or in the case for children your age to

You can also follow us at and on Facebook Glenties world record attempt 2013. An outfit will cost you €8 or if you need some part replaced or repaired from last year call into the Market Hall. Everybody must register on the day of the record attempt €2 so that we can sort out numbers.

To top the day off there will also be a float, band and carnival parade after the record attempt on

the main street plus 2013 leprechauns, so for something totally different on a St Patricks Day come

to Glenties and be a part of a World Record, spread the word and look forward to seeing you all.
