St. Bridget’s Celebrations: A feast of St. Bridget’s celebrations will be held in the Community Centre, Doneyloop on Friday, Feb. 1st commencing at 8 pm. The evening will include making, blessing and judging of the newly made St. Bridget’s crosses. There will be presentation of prizes to be followed by tea and light refreshments. Dancing will follow at 10 pm with music by the ever popular “Antonio Rose”. Admission to this event is 6 euro/£5 sterling for adults and 3 euro/£2.50 sterling for children. Everyone is very welcome to come along and try their hand at making a traditional St. Bridget’s cross and help keep this old tradition alive for future generations.

School Enrolments: Enrolments are now being taken for classes at Scoil Mhuire gan Smal, Lifford National School for the new school term. Please contact the school for an enrolment form and further details by telephoning (074) 9141269. Applications for enrolment at St. Patrick’s National School, Murlog are also being taken at present. Call to the school office between 9.30 am and 3 pm any school day and collect an enrolment form or contact can be made by telephoning the school office directly on (074) 9141450. A copy of the child’s Baptismal Certificate will be required for enrolment.

Classes: Classes starting up at Lifford Old Courthouse, The Diamond will include Dressmaking Classes scheduled to start on Tuesday, Feb. 12th from 7 to 9.30 pm. The cost of these classes are 40 euro for 10 weeks classes. Whether you are interested in making your own clothes or making your own unique or vintage-style clothing or simply in picking up some new skills in a forgotten craft, then this is the class for you.

A new series of classes in Childrens Art will be starting on Thursday, Feb. 14th from 4 to 5.30 pm. The cost is 25 euro for the complete series of 10 classes. Encourage your child creatitivity with these fun make, paint and draw classes for children aged between 8 and 12 years inclusive. Appeal: The Lifford Clonleigh Resource Centre is appealing to the public to donate any unwanted quality items to the centre. They also require the help of volunteers in order to keep the shop up and running. If you have any free time to spare, would like to give something back to the community or would like to gain or improve your skills, please contact reception on 074 91 41773!

Writing group: If you have an interest in staring stories or jokes, then you or someone you know may be interested in coming along to our classes. This is not an accredited course but participants come along to meet new people and just have a laugh. If you would like to find out more, please contact reception at the Resource Centre.

Photography: The Resource Centre will are hoping to run a class in photography in the near future. If you have an interest in the above, would like to take up a new hobby or just get out and meet new people then call reception on 07491 41773.

Basic/Conversational Irish: The Resource Centre is hoping to run classes in the Irish language. This may be of benefit to people wishing to refresh their memory of the language, help their children with schoolwork or someone who just wishes to find out more about our native language.

Art Classes: Classes are beginning Monday, Feb. 4th from 10.30 – 12.30p.m. Anyone interested in attending please contact the Resource Centre reception on 07491 41773.

Astro Turf Pitch: The astro turf pitch has now reopened at the Lifford/Clonleigh Resource Centre and runs from Monday to Friday from 6 to 10 pm nightly. The success of this popular sporting facility will also be available for weekend use starting in early February. The astro turf pitch now has a new FIFA 2 rated surface as well as new overhead lighting and perimeter fencing. The lighting has been severely upgraded to include upgraded floodlighting. Just For Me: A warm welcome for the Lifford/Clonleigh “Just For Me” group who meet every Monday at the Lifford/Clonleigh Resource Centre. The class is ongoing starting at 12.45 to 2.45 pm with new members very welcome to come along. Activities include card making, cookery, flower arranging, zumba sessions and information sessions. So if you are a mother and would like to spend some time to yourself while in the company of like minded adults please feel free to drop in any Monday. The cost is 3 euro per week towards activities. N-Gage Project: The N-Gage Project as part of the Reconciliation Through The Riverine has been working with Lifford and Springhill on a cross border scheme aimed at tackling issues of sectarianism and discrimination among young people who currently live in these areas. This is being worked through youth clubs in the two areas.

Activities include art schemes, pool competitions and games, recreation and integration cyber-bullying as well as team building workshops. The project is always seeking out new and interesting ways to carry out its objectives.

Youth Club: The Lifford Youth Club now runs every Tuesday evening in their new venue of the ABC Childcare Centre on the Letterkenny Road. There is no charge for those participants who come along within the age ranges of 12 to 18 years inclusive. There is also a tuck shop available as well as competitive games on the playstation and pool table. Everyone is very welcome to come along and made welcome to participate in every club activity within their age range.

Community Garden: Lifford Community Garden are now seeking donations of much needed gardening equipment such as grapes, spades, shovels, hoes, rakes, yard brushes and wheel-barrows.

The group are now preparing the allotments at the Finn Valley Enterprise Park on the Letterkenny Road. If you feel that you can help out in any way please telephone (087) 7567207 as soon as possible. Any donations would be gratefully received and put to good use by their members.

Deele Harps Club: There was no outright winner of this week’s Lotto. The numbers drawn were 9, 15, 16 and 18. Equally there was no winner of the “match 3” competition.
