Water Sports at Creevy Pier: Donegal Bay Watersports Partnership (Creevy Co-op, Lakeside Centre, Donegal Sub Aqua Club and Donegal Water Safety & Ballyshannon Scouts) – under the umbrella of Donegal Sports Parternership, a Watersports programme has been organised for 18th & 19th May at Creevy Pier near Ballyshannon. 18th May Two hour Deep Sea Fishing departing either in the morning or afternoon – bookings necessary €5 adult/€3 child. 19th May – commence 11am – diving, rescue demonstration – children and adults can join in snorkelling, kayaking, canoeing or paddle a boat Admission €3 (events & refreshments included in price). Museum News: The screening of RTE’s Local Hero’s programme will take place next Wednesday night the 15th at Dicey Reilly’s function room from 8pm - 10pm. The programme, presented by Joe Duffy, will feature the development story of Ballyshannon and District Museum, a grass roots project driven by community spirit and inspired by by the town and hinterland’s rich heritage. The t.v show will feature many well known local faces and is a night not to be missed. There will be food, music and poetry on the night. Please come along and support your local museum and bring your friends and family.

Aodh Ruadh Duck Race: The Duck Race takes place on Saturday May 18th. Cards are out now, so buy your ducks early to be sure of a place at the starting line. The first ducks will be under starter’s orders at 2pm

Céilí and old time barn dance: Gaelscoil Eirne will be hosting a céilí, old time barn dance in the Rock Hall, Ballyshannon on Saturday 11th May at 9.30pm. Music by The Assaroe Céilí Band. Supper Served. Admission €8.

Aodh Ruadh Lotto: There was no winner of the E3,600 Aodh Ruadh Lotto jackpot last Sunday. The numbers drawn were 8, 10, 12, 14, 17 and 18. In the lucky dip E20 each went to: Jim Downey, Ballyshannon; Fionnuala Gillespie, Wardtown; John and Claire Hughes, Bundoran Road; John Faherty, Portnason; and Anne McNulty, Donegal Road. Information Morning: “Ageing Sensibly” -- a physical health & well-being event will be held in the Abbey Hotel, Donegal Town, on Tuesday 14th May from 10am to 1.30pm. There will be talks on diabetes, heart health, healthy eating, green exercise, arthritis, etc. There will be information stands on all of the above and more, from support organisations. So come along, listen and learn, have a chat, hear the craic, have a cup of ....... Admission is free, starts at 10am and finishes at 1.30pm

Active Retirement Group: There will be a Meeting of the Active Retirement Group in Kilbarron House on Monday 13th May, 2013 at 2.30pm. A good attendance of members would be appreciated as there will be a Talk on safety in the home etc. by a membedr of the Garda. Also a proposed day trip for May and a 3 day break for June will be finalised.

Borderline Arts Festival: This year’s festival takes place in Irvinestown on 17th and Saturday 18th May. The deadline for entries has been extended and entries will be accepted on the day of the competition. Pre-registration is advised to ensure that competitors are given accurate time and venue information. Borderline Players: The group are presenting the hilarious Ray Cooney comedy, It Runs in the Family in the GAA Centre Aghyaran on Saturday 1st June, the community centre Kiltyclogher on Sunday June 2nd, the Patrician Hall Carrickmore on 7th June, the Abbey Centre Ballyshannon on Saturday 8th June, the Strule Arts Centre Omagh on Friday 21st June, the Playhouse Theatre Derry on 22nd June and will finish the run in the Ardhowen Theatre Enniskillen on June 28th and 29th. Tickets for the Omagh, Derry, and Enniskillen performances are now on sale. All other performances tickets are available on the night. Performances begin nightly at 8:00pm.
