Country singer James Kilbane and his band Jackson will bring their Country, Gospel and Irish concert to The Blue Haven Hotel, Kilcar on Sunday night, October 7 at 8pm.
The concert, is supporting local and international development work projects - the restoration of The Church of St. Mary of the Visitation and the Irish development organisation Rebuild for Bosnia.
The Church of St Mary of the Visitation in Killybegs was designed in 1834 by John Papworth with services for the community commencing in 1843. Since then, St. Mary’s has been to the centre of life in Killybegs.
In May 2011, restoration work commenced costing some millions of euro to the parish. Works include a new roof and spire to solve the problem of water penetration, external rendering and complete dry-lining of the interior. The church sanctuary has been extended with an apse added behind the altar. The sacristy has been remodeled and is now located nearer to the main entrance. Also there has been a new parish office built on the church grounds that will serve the church and wider community.
Many from Donegal who have traveled to Medjugorje will be aware of how people still suffer and live in terrible conditions in many parts of Bosnia Herzegovina. Rebuild for Bosnia directly helps displaced communities there to rebuild their homes following the end of war. To-date Rebuild for Bosnia have rebuilt homes for over 1,100 families, however they need to continue their work.
Your support to both developments will be greatly appreciated.
