One of the highlights of the summer show schedule, the Ballyshannon Agricultural Show, takes place this Sunday, August 19.
The hugely successful annual event, which is now in its 19th year, is organised by Ballyshannon Annual Show Ltd. and takes place in Tunney’s Field on the Donegal Road.
The show provides a display platform for the best in North West of cattle, sheep, dogs, horses, ponies, poultry, home industries and arts & crafts.

A new addition to this year’s show is Live Music and Dancing in the show field from 3pm – 5pm with Shaun Loughrey and Band providing the entertainment. In addition there will be a display of vintage tractors at the show grounds. Once again this year, the show committee is delighted to have the services of Gerry Singer to provide the show day with great entertainment throughout the day and keep everybody up to date with all the events as they happen.
For all those Bonny Babies out there, there is a Bonny Baby Competition at 2pm, entries taken on the day.
This year’s Show Dance will be held on Saturday, August 25 in Dorrian’s Imperial Hotel, with music by ‘It’s All About September’. Doors open at 10pm with music from 11pm to 1am.
This year, a competition was run among the local schools to come up with a poster design for the show. There were some great designs and the winner was Megan Davitt from Creevy National School.
In these challenging times, the organisers would like to thank all the sponsors, exhibitors and volunteers for their continued support, without which it would not be possible to run the show.
