The organisers of Bealtaine are delighted to announce the line-up for May 2012, which will see hundreds of theatrical, cinematic, craft, photographic, choral, dance and other events taking place across Ireland, giving people a chance to celebrate creativity as we age.
Here are details of some of the events taking place in Donegal.
Donegal County Museum has organised ‘The Past in The Present’ exhibition in community venues around Donegal. Curators will bring objects from the museum collections for communities to view during May.
The ‘Events of the Year Quilts and Testimonies of Survival’ exhibition by Irene MacWilliam is already open for viewing. The artists shows through her work her concerns about natural and human disasters. For more details contact Caroline Carr Tel: 074 912 4613.
There will be an opportunity to enjoy a cup of coffee and art at Buncrana Community Hospital. It will open its doors to the public on May 23 for an oil painting exhibition. The hospital will also host reminiscence session, music and dance events. For more details contact Fiona Lavery 074 936 1500.
A variety of diverse events will be held in the Donegal County libraries throughout May offering exhibitions, storytelling, flower arranging, computer workshops, crochet classes and more. Contact Donegal libraries for more details or Frances Crampsie on 074 916 1818.
Following an extraordinary debut event on the Culdaff beach in Donegal in May 2009, Dawn Chorus is returning to waterfronts all across Ireland this year. The Association of Irish Choirs and Active Retirement Ireland are encouraging choirs throughout the country to open their doors to retirement groups, to develop a short concert together and to sing on a scenic waterfront in every county at dawn on Sunday, May 27.
