This Saturday, a portrait of the late Margaret McGinley will be unveiled as part of a tribute to her great work in Education, Music and the Arts in Ballyshannon and much further afield.

The portrait was commissioned by Cairde Mhairead Nic Fhionnghaile from local artist Barry Sweeny. Her son Frankie and her grandchildren, Claire and Roisin will represent the McGinley family.

She will also be remembered through the performance of extracts from the Glenveagh Suite composed by Margaret and arranged by pianist Marie Askin and it will be performed by local artists. Rossnowlagh writer Soinbhe Lally has developed a new script for the occasion and it is all happening in the Abbey Arts Centre, Ballyshannon to coincide with the launching of the Bluestack Arts Festival commencing at 7.30 pm.

Admirers of Margaret’s work are welcome to come along on the night and be part of the tribute.
