Students at Pobalscoil Chloich Cheannfhaola in Falcarragh recently launched their first ever online “eMagazine”.

Released on the internet just prior to their Christmas holidays, it contains 60 pages of articles, pictures and reports detailing all aspects of life at the school.

Outgoing Principal of PCC, Patsy McVicar, who retired at Christmas said there was a high level of work put into the project by the staff and students in a unique project in the region. The eMagazine is available on the school’s official website: www.pccfalarragh.ie

“We are just after launching our first issue of our electronic magazine and it is up on our website as a link. It was compiled by the students and I must acknowledge them as well as teachers Anne Gallagher, Paula Harley and James O’Mara from “Web for Schools”. I don’t know of any other school that has an eMagazine so it is very innovative,” he stated.

Mr. McVicar said the students had to learn a high level of publishing techniques to create the magazine but the outcome was a great success. “It is cutting edge stuff and it was a very steep learning curve. The had to do the work in Quark Express and Photoshop, another graphics package called InDesign. This was all done by the Transition Year students who worked very hard on it,” he added.

The magazine is jam-packed with a wide range of coverage. It includes an in-depth interview with Mr. McVicar prior to his retirement. It also features a look at the hugely successful PCC’s Got Talent event held last November as well as Christmas at the school. Pop group ‘La Coda’ feature following the successful launch of their first album. There is also a feature on Anti-Bulling week.
