Four Masters G.A.A. Club: The monthly meeting has been brought forward to this Thursday night January 27th at 8.30 p.m. in the Abbey Hotel. The €50 winners in the Annual Lotto for Week 29 were Frankie O’ Donnell, St. Ernan’s and Teresa Gallagher, Killybegs. The numbers drawn were 3, 6, 11 & 22 with the jackpot now standing at €3,700. Membership @ €50.00 per adult over 18 years of age is now due and should be paid to Registrar, Michael Martin (087) 6198905 as soon as possible. The Club is hosting a Table Quiz in Dom’s Pier 1 on Thursday February 10th at 9.00 p.m. in aid of our underage football, hurling, ladies football and camogie teams. Entry is €5.00 per person or a Table of 4 for €20.00 payable on the night. Irish Conversation Class: Would you like to be able to speak some Irish, well, now is your chance! A conversation Irish 8-week course will begin in the 2nd week of February. The classes are designed to be fun, interactive and interesting, and will run from 10.30am to 12 midday on a weekday morning. The class size is limited to 12 and there are still places available. The purpose of this class is to get participants to realise how much Irish they have from school and to facilitate them to speak a cúpla focail in a fun and relaxed environment. Jim McLaughlin who is helping organise the class stated, “the 8 week course is designed specifically to meet the needs of adult learners and is ideal for parents of young kids who may find it difficult to attend night classes. The course is supported by Oideas Gael and participants have the opportunity of working towards a silver or gold fáinne.” Cost of the course is € 80. Transformation Four Masters: A keep active initiative called ‘Transformation Four Masters’ is being organised for anybody who would like to blend exercise (walking, jogging or running) with a social outlet. All adults welcome, including members or non-members, those who feel they are unfit or those who feel they would like to maintain fitness. Commencing on Sunday 6th February at 12.00 noon for a trial period of 6 weeks. Meeting in the carpark at Murvagh beach. Please tell your friends.

Youth Choir: Tir Conaill Youth Choir are holding their 1st annual concert in Solis Castle Hotel on Thursday 3rd Feb at 8pm. Special guests include the Derg Valley Choir, Donegal Tenors, Eileen Carr and Anna Stefanova. Everyone is welcome and your support would be greatly appreciated.

Free course comes to Donegal Town: Winning New Opportunities is a 20-hour training programme that helps people who are unemployed to access new education, volunteering, enterprise, and employment opportunities. The programme assists participants in gaining confidence in their skills and strengths, while at the same time helping them to analyse and develop solutions for their own situations. Topics covered by the specially-trained WNO facilitators include: identifying one’s own skills, strengths, and interests; finding openings in education, volunteering, enterprise, and employment; effective interviewing; CV-writing; networking; and dealing with obstacles and set-backs. To date, 15 WNO training programmes have taken place in Donegal, Sligo, Galway, Limerick, and Tipperary; a recent survey found that 92 percent of respondents felt they had benefitted “a great deal” from the programme. The Donegal Town WNO course is run by Tuath in collaboration with Donegal Family Resource Centre and Foróige, and is funded by the International Fund for Ireland. The course will run in the Donegal Youth Information Centre in Donegal Town from Monday, 7th January, to Friday, 11th January, for four hours per day. Music Classes: The Donegal VEC Music Education Partnership provides instrumental and vocal tuition throughout Donegal in various genres of music ranging from classical to traditional, jazz to contemporary music. Donegal Town/Ballyshannon Classes: Tuition available in Violin, Cello, Viola, Flute, Saxophone, Clarinet and with new classes starting in Voice, Guitar & Piano (numbers permitting). Tuition is open to children from 7 to 18 years of age and beginners are most welcome. Assist Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training: Free course 16th & 17th February 2011, 10am – 4pm in the Donegal Family Resource Centre. With many challenges in society this course offers training to persons, who my know, or come into contact with someone with suicidal thoughts and enable people to reduce immediate risk and support and understand reasons for suicide and reasons for living.

Occupational First Aid: Fetac Level 5 starting February 2011, subject to numbers €137 includes exam fees - 21 hour course. Evenings or Saturdays. Walking Group: Thurs 27th Jan @10am meeting St John Bosco Centre. Voyage of self discovery – six sessions, each session 2 hours starting Feb 2011. Aimed at those who wish to challenge themselves to achieve real change and growth, provides an opportunity to explore strategies for living a more content life.
