Milford man Manus O’Donnell has been elected unanimously at the recent AGM of Donegal Community Games. Manus has been involved with the Milford area for the last number of years and has been a delegate to the County committee meetings.

Gerry Davenport stepped down after 12 years at the helm and told delegates it was with regret that he had to step down as County Chairman but he now needs to put his efforts into the job of National President of which he is elected to. Gerry thanked everyone for their support over his term as Chairman and he felt it was now time for a new face with fresh ideas to bring Community Games to the forefront in the County.

Gerry thanked everyone who helped and assisted in any way over the last number of years especially the County Committee and the sub-committees. He thanked the co-ordinators who organised the County events, managers, coaches and parents and those who officiated at the Ulster and National Finals. He congratulated the competitors who took part in the games over the year. He especially thanked Donegal Community Games sponsors Donegal Creameries and the County Councillors for their financial support over the last number of years.

He also thanked the local press and radio for their coverage of the games and wished the new Chairman Manus O’Donnell every success in his new position. He said he hoped everyone would come in behind Manus and the County committee one hundred percent over the next year as Donegal will be hosting the Ulster Finals and every effort must be made to make this a success.

Manus O’Donnell said he looked forward to working as the new Chairman of Donegal Community Games and thanked everyone for their encouragement and support. He hoped to make a difference in his tenure as Chairman but had a hard act to follow as regards the outgoing Chairman.
