Katie-George takes Silver in Para Cycling World Championships
Katie-George Dunlevy and Eve McCrystal stormed to silver yesterday in the Women’s B tandem Road Race at the UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships in Greenville, SC, USA.
Dunlevy is from England but has close ties to Donegal through her Mountcharles born father John. She is also a niece of Tony Dunlevy, of the Donegal Association from Dublin.
The 32-year-old is partially sighted and only paired up with McCrystal, who is from Dundalk, this season.
Speaking after the race, she said:“We’re delighted, it was hard, but we’re over the moon. All the hard work has paid off.
“After the puncture in the Time Trial on Friday, we were really hungry for a medal.
“As we got into the race, we felt brilliant, and as it went on, we felt better.
“We were just pipped at the line by the Brits. Words can’t describe how happy I am feeling.
“Thank you Eve Mc Crystal for being my eyes on the bike and steering us to victory. We make a great team!”
