The Dunfanaghy Bowling Club’s annual Singles tournament was held last week with the proceeds to be split between Donegal Hospice, Mulroy Coast Guard and Kidney Dialysis.
The inclement conditions affected the entries but a great four days bowling and banter were enjoyed by all who attended. The winner was Maghery’s Jamie Glacken, who played great bowls throughout the final and certainly deserved his first singles victory. Runner up was William Boggs, Ardstraw and the semi-finalists were John Quinn, Ballylennon, and Laurence Herron, Ardara. Quarter-finalists were John Hegarty, Glenties, PJ Gallagher, Burtonport, Adrian Gavigan, Glenties and Colvin Beattie,
Cathedral, Raphoe. First round eight were Jim Teague, Ardstraw, Mervyn White, Conwal, Christopher O’Kane, St Eunans, Raphoe, Malcolm Scott, Laghey, Kenny McPherson, Gortahork, Ownie Diver, Gortahork, Mark Cairns, Ballylennon
and James Collum, Gortahork.
The winners were presented with their prizes by Fred Aicken the County Convenor.
The Club would like to thanks all players who entered and appreciated the support of Arnolds Hotel, Purt Farm Supplies, Moores Garage, Lizzies Diner, An Chistin and the Corner Butchers.
