Deane’s Equestrian Summer Showjumping league got underway in brilliant sunshine at the Equestrian Centre in Bruckless.

Ally McClay on Meenarillagh got the competition of to a flying start for the Starter Stakes, but was unlucky to have a refusal on fence four. Hannah Jones on Dolly was first to go clear. She was followed by Tracey Alcorn on Valentino and new rider Glen Coughlan on Charlie, while Glen’s brother Vincent Coughlan was laughing all the way despite taking a tumble.

In the 40 centimeres Class Ally McClay was back in action and picked up her first clear round rosette. Tracey Alcorn on Valentino was again in the rosettes along with Erin Kea on Charlie and Michaela Barrett on Bob both from Fermanagh. In the 50 centimetre Class Kathie Boyle was the only clear round.

The action then moved outdoors for the higher classes and we started with the 60 centimetre class. There were a few nervous riders as this was the first time they had jumped outside this year. Lauren Bradley was the first to go clear on Jayzee in his first competition. Charlie Timoney had a super round on Sandy and made it look easy as she sailed around the course. Hannah Marie Slater on the ever steady Ronin and Damaris Scott on Ebony both had good clear rounds. The trip from Fermanagh was worth while as Shauneen Gallagher on Tibby, Emily Miller on Twinkle and Georgia Dilwork on Dillen all picked up clear round rosettes for their efforts.

In the 70 centimetre Class Hannah Marie Slater, on Ronin and Lucy Stewart, on Dedo were the only ones to go clear in this class.

In the 80 centimetres Class Patrick Hunter on Eurolady took on the course with a lovely display of riding and claimed a clear round rosette for his efforts. Lucy Stewart on Dedo was back in the rosettes and Catherine Gallagher on Dawn and Finoula Coughlan on Bambi were also clear.

In the 90 centimetres Class Patrick Hunter again went clear and was joined by his sister Aine Hunter on Moonlight Crystal, in collecting a clear round rosette. Charlie Vial on Nacho had a good round and a bit of luck as he too collected a clear round rosette.
