Wizard plays in friendly

Finn HARPS captain Kevin McHugh said he would be delighted if Shaun ‘Wizard’ McGowan signs back with the club.

Finn HARPS captain Kevin McHugh said he would be delighted if Shaun ‘Wizard’ McGowan signs back with the club.

McGowan featured for Harps in a friendly against Bonagee United on Sunday having trained with his former club over the past few weeks. The Ballybofey man has been playing with Kildrum Tigers in the Ulster Senior League since his departure from Finn Park two years ago.

However, his return to Harps seems imminent and McHugh says it would be a great move for the club. “Wizard brings ability and experience and we’ve a small enough squad in that respect,” McHugh said.

“I’m not sure what’s happening with him, but if he does end up signing, that would be great.”

McHugh didn’t feature himself in Sunday’s game against Bonagee which ended in a 1-0 victory a Harps team which included a handful of first team squad members including Ciaran Greene, Thomas Bonner and Barry O’Mahony.
