Jennings tops in Abbey Hotel Forest Rally

Fermanagh Driver Gary Jennings claimed his first win of the new year with his first place finish at the Abbey Hotel Forest Rally on Saturday.

The Jennings-Barry McNulty combination took the number one spot in their Subaru Impreza and also picked up full points in what was also a first round for the Valvodine Motorsport Ireland National Rally Championship.

The Fermanagh pair had 53 seconds to spare at the end of ten gruelling stages over Stephen and Susanne Wright in an Mitsubishi EvoV1. Third place was taken by the Tyrone crew of Colin Britton and Arthur Kearns in a Mitsubishi 6.

Conor Harvey and Paddy McDaid, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X1, were the top placed Donegal finishers in fourth place.

Other locals drivers to finish inside the top 20 were Paul and Karl Reid (Escort) who finished in tenth place with Adrian McElhinney/Shane Buckley (Peugeot 206) 13th place and Gary McElhinney/Paddy McCrudden (Escort) in 17th position.
