For a small club team struggling to keep players at home and stuck in between two bigger clubs like Four Masters and Aodh Ruadh, victory for Naomh Brd in the Donegal GAA under 21 B championship final last Sunday was particularly sweet.

"Any day you win a county title, it's a good day. In the first half our passing was poor, our handling was poor and Bundoran made us pay dearly," long time servant of the club Matt Gallagher told the Donegal Democrat moments after the final whistle was blown.

"But the goal from Shane gave us the draw that we probably did not deserve at half time. I thought in the second half we dominated the game and really should have won by far more. Bundoran going down to fourteen men was always a hindrance but these things happen in football. Sometimes you have to deal with that and cope with that. Thankfully today, our lads coped well with it," the Donegal 1992 All Ireland hero added.

"We probably had that extra bit of power, especially in the final fifteen minutes. We did not rack up the scores, but we did have the possession and that prevented Bundoran getting the scores."

With a minor league title also under their belts this season, the club are looking forward to the future with great optimism, but with a sense of realism.
