What's happening around Donegal's GAA clubs

The action on the field of play might be drawing to a conclusion for this season, but there's still plenty happening off the field within the GAA clubs of Donegal.

Here's all the news from your local clubs:

Sean Mac Cumhaill's

Congratulations to Sean Boyce and Chris Doherty and the Donegal Masters players and management on winning the All-Ireland Masters Shield, in Galway, on Saturday.

There was no winner of this week's lotto jackpot. The numbers drawn were 5, 24, 26 and 29. There was one match three winner: Anne Dunnion, Glencovitt, who receives €150. This week’s jackpot is still a massive €10,000. Shane McNulty and Stephen Lynch’s team is selling this week.

TIR CHONAILL GAELS

The club was saddened to learn of the death of Vincent Keating. Sincere sympathy is extended to his wife Mary, and sons Michael and Eamon.

Upcoming dates are the London Development squads at U-16 and U-18 and the U-14 Feile team’s presentation on Friday night, November 18th, at 8pm, in Ruislip.

The TCG Youth Dinner Dance is on Saturday November 26th. It is sold out. The Children’s Christmas party, is on Sunday, December 4th, from 3 to 7 pm.

MALIN

All underage team players will be selling tickets throughout the parish for our annual Christmas draw with five great prizes to be won. The draw will take place on Sunday, December 19th.

Well done to all our Scor participants and organisers who attended the Scor Na nOg in Muff last Friday. Our dancers and Grupai Cheoil are through.

There will be a Level One coaching course held in the club grounds next week.

The pool room is now open every Saturday and Sunday evening from 8pm to 11pm in the clubhouse for anyone looking to play a game of pool. The winner of last week’s pool competition was Robert Colhoun who beat Ruairi Doherty in the final.

Massive congratulations to Robert Wehrley, Conor Comack and the reserve team on winning the Division One Reserve League on Saturday. They defeated St Eunan’s to win the league outright.

St Eunans held a one point advantage at half-time and led 0-4 to 0-3. The introduction of Adrian Sweeney and Cory Gallagher eventually turned the tide in Dungloe’s favour and they won out on a final score of 0-7 to 0-6. Captain Donal Rodgers was presented with the Division 1 Reserve Cup by County Secretary, Aideen Gillen, after the game. .

Many thanks to all who attended the annual mass for all deceased players and members. Thank you to all who helped out on the evening.

The club had a great night at Scor na nOg in Glenfin over the weekend. We had three acts qualify for the county final - Lara O'Donnell in solo singing, Eimear Walsh, Eoghan Walsh, Colm O'Donnell and Crona Melly for our instrumental group and Caitlin Kennedy, Neil Kennedy, Orlaith McDaid, Sophie O'Donnell and Amy Greene in the ballad group. We also had a group of dancers and a quiz team that didn't qualify.

GLEANN FHINNE

The lotto winning numbers for the 08/11/2016 are 7-1-6-5-2-3-4-8. Alice Doherty matched 3 numbers and won €60. Jackpot for the 15/11/2016 is €4,650.

Congratulations to Johnny McGinty, Paul McGlynn and Liam Breen who were all part of the Donegal Masters panel who beat Offaly in the All Ireland Shield final.

Cumann Peil na mBan Ghleann Fhinne would like to thank everyone that supported the Flower Demonstration in the Villa Rose Hotel recently. Also thanks to everyone who helped in any way and especially Rose Herron for all her hard work.

Congratulations to the Glenfin dancers who got through to the county final of Scór na nÓg on Saturday night. They were Kiava McGlynn, Katie McGlynn, Lauren Carroll, Aibhe Ward, Makayla Glackin and Katlyn Houston and also Clara Carroll their coach. The county final is in Glenfin at a date to be confirmed.

The club agm is on Sunday, December 18th at 3 pm.

AODH RUADH

The Ulster championship and league winning county minors are being honoured at a function this Friday night at the Villa Rose Hotel in Ballybofey where Donegal County Board will host a presentation night for the squad. Tickets for Friday's event are priced at €25 and available to order from the club or through the County Administrator, Noreen Doherty, at administrator.donegal@gaa.ie.

There was a big crowd present at Páirc Aoidh Ruaidh on Sunday for the closing stages of the 2016 Bakery Cup. The semi-finals saw some great football being played. Eugene Doherty's team got the better of Shane Brady's side on the bottom pitch, while on the top pitch Mark McGlynn's side prevailed against Senan Rooney's men.

The final saw Eugene Doherty's side delivering an excellent team performance to take victory against Mark McGlynn's outfit and claim the Bakery Cup, one of the oldest underage trophies in the country. There was a great spread upstairs in the Aras afterwards where presentations were made and some of the competition's long history relived. The fourth week of play in the U10 Ballyshannon Shoe Company winter league took place last Friday and, after two great games of football, the final pairings were decided. In the Plate fina,l Team B captained by Eoin Doogan will play Team D captained by Morgan McNamee. That game will throw in at 6.15pm. Players should be up at Páirc Aoidh Ruaidh for 6pm.

The Cup Final sees Team A captained by Michael Keown play Team C captained by Finn Coady. That game throws in at 7pm, with players to be up at 6.45 pm. We will have presentations up in Aras Aoidh Ruaidh afterwards so parents / guardians are asked to help by supplying refreshments and behind the hatch in the Aras.

Advance notice of the Bord na nÓg AGM which will take place on Wednesday, 23rd November at 8pm in Aras Aoidh Ruaidh.

The Ladies AGM takes place this Saturday, 19th November at 6pm in Aras Aoidh Ruaidh. We will be looking back over the year just past and making plans for 2017.

The senior hurlers are staging their table quiz in Owen Roe's this Thursday, November 17th. A good night of craic guaranteed.

Juvenile Hurling AGM will take place on Tuesday, 29th November at 8pm. It will be a review of 2016 and a look forward to 2017. At the moment we are fielding six underage teams. There is a lot of work involved for the small, hard-working committee and we would encourage some new blood to get involved. Nobody needs to be afraid of being forced to take a job. Come along on the night and hear how the underage hurling season went in 2016. You never know you, might want to get involved. As the saying goes, many hands make light work. Anyone who can't make the meeting, but feels like getting involved is asked to contact John Rooney 086-2587793.

Our annual Christmas quiz will take place in Owen Roe's on Thursday, 15th December. Always a good night of fun and craic.

Best of luck to all club members taking part in the county semi-final of Scór na nÓg this Friday in the St John Bosco Centre, in Donegal town. Amy Carney will be taking part in the Aithriseoireacht / Scéalaíocht section under the guidance of her teacher Áine Roper. Beth Flood, Laoise Kelly, Clodagh O'Connor and Lauren McHugh are joining forces for the Tráth na gCeisteanna and have been well coached by Eamon Martin Maguire. Our Ceol Uirlise group will also be taking part led by Seamus Sweeney. They include Fódhla Sheerin, Daithí Sheerin, Eoin Summerville, Sean Branley and Elyssa Finnegan.

Many thanks to those who have helped the children get ready for what promises to be a great night, and hopefully qualification for the county final.

The club note with sadness the tragic passing of Martin Williamson recently in the United States. Martin played on the 1980 All-Ireland winning De La Salle team. He also played county minor football for Donegal as well as lining out with Aodh Ruadh. A memorial service will be held when his ashes return home at some point in the New Year. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal.

Tickets are on sale now for the National Club Draw priced €10. Once again there's a serious line-up of prizes. Donegal County Board is also making a prize fund of €2,500 available which will stay within the county. All funds raised by club members go to Aodh Ruadh. The club will also have prizes for those who buy tickets from club members and we will details of those in due course.

ROBERT EMMETTS

There was no jackpot winner is this week’s lotto. The numbers drawn were 1-8-11-15 and just one winner of the €100 match three prize. Next week’s jackpot is €1250 with the bingo snowball a massive €5100.

Heartiest congratulations to our young Scor na nOg contestants who competed so well in Muff on Friday night. Our solo singer, recitation and ballad group all won their competition to qualify for the county final. The dancers and the quiz team were unlucky not to make it to the final.

The club had another major success in recent weeks which went virtually unnoticed when our U 16 team won the Division Three final defeating Convoy by just a point.

The big Kube night is in C P I Centre on Saturday, 26th November. Tickets selling out fast so get your order in now to avoid disappointment and miss out on a great night’s entertainment.

The club extends sympathy to the McGuire family Ballybun on the tragic death of Mark, may he rest in peace.

NAOMH COLUMBA

Congratulations to Martin Gillespie and the Donegal Masters team and management on their All Ireland success. Also congratulations to Cormac O’Gara and the Dunedin Connollys team who won the British Championship on Sunday.

A notice for all members who are using the clubhouse and grounds at this time of year: Due to the commencement of the sewer works in Glen, the access road from the fire station to the field will be closed to vehicles from Monday 14th November for three weeks. There will still be access on foot down the road during this time.

For those wishing to purchase a season ticket for that special Christmas present - your ticket will need to be ordered by December 4th to ensure delivery on time. These cards would make an excellent Christmas present for all GAA fans.

This card includes admission into all adult club games run by Donegal CCC together with your season ticket for access to all Inter-county Allianz League games; Donegal’s opening championship game and the club finals in Croke Park on March 17th. ST MARY’S (Convoy)

The lotto counties drawn last week were were DY, KY, TY, MH. The jackpot was not won so this week’s jackpot rises to €5,450. One person had three counties, Helen Long, Convoy.

St Mary's will launch our Smoke Free club this Saturday morning, November 19th, at 11am.

Thanks to our hardworking Health and Wellbeing Committee.

St Mary's end of season presentation night takes place on Saturday in Arena 7 with buffett at 10pm and pay on the door.

The underage presentation will take place on Friday. 1st Dec at 6.30 pm. The club’s agm will take place on December 1st. New members are always welcome and we would love to see some new faces on the committee with new ideas. Congrats to solo singer Muireann Mulrain who qualified for the Scor Na nOg county final last weekend. Congrats to John Anthony McMullan who was part of the Donegal Masters team who won the All Ireland Shield.

CLOUGHANEELY

We are seeking applicants for the following management roles for 2017: senior manager, reserve manager, U-21 manager. The minor board are holding their presentation night in Óstan Loch Áltan, on Friday, November 25th at 8pm.

Lotto numbers drawn on Wednesday, November 9th were 1,4,5,6,16,19. There was no jackpot winner so jackpot rises to €3,900.We had one match 5 winner; congratulations to Dan Doohan (Dandy) who won €100. The draw takes place each Wednesday evening at the bingo in Óstan Loch Áltan.

ST NAUL’S

Good luck to all who will be competing for St Nauls in the county semi-final of Scor Na nOg this coming Friday, Nov 18th in the St John Bosco Centre.

We will be represented in Solo Singing by Orla Meehan; Instrumental Music by Shona and Jonathan O'Driscoll, Enya Gallagher and Rachel Boyle; ballad group by Abby Chambers, Chloe Boyle, Orla Connaghan, Aisling Murphy and Amy McInern. The quiz team is made up of Patrick Lynch, Hannah Shallow and Daniel Gallagher.

The club would like to give a special thank you to Brid McCready, Shaun Gallagher, Gloria Gallagher, Marie Gallagher and Marie Celine Meehan for all the work they carried out in preparing everyone for the event.

The minor board presentation will take place on Friday, 25th November at 7.30pm.

The AGM will take place on Friday, 2nd December at 8pm. in the clubhouse.

GAEIL FHANADA

Last week’s lotto numbers were 1, 3, 13, 17, 19. Bonus 8.The winners were €100 - Jack Mc Creery, Corry; €50 - Fergus Friel, Gortnatra. The jackpot next week is €1,000.

The club AGM. will be held on 30th December in Rosnakill Hall at 7 pm. This is the most important meeting for the club of the year.

Provisional date for under age presentation night ia set for 27th December, more information to follow.

Anyone wishing to go to the dinner in Villa Rose where the county minor team will receive their medals, please contact Fiona. Tickets are €25 each and the function is being held this Friday November 18th.

The county banquet is being held on December 3rd in the Abbey Hotel, Donegal Town. Tickets are €40 each.

FOUR MASTERS

Four Masters AGM will be held in Dom’s Pier 1 on December 4th at 7.30pm. Nomination forms and motion forms available in Abbey Hotel and Mullins shop.

Bord na nOg held a most enjoyable and successful Social Night in McGarrigle’s Oyster Bar on Friday night last. The committee would like to say a huge thank you to the proprietor Sean McGarrigle who provided the excellent buffet and to his family and staff for the fantastic hospitality shown on the night. Also to all the musicians Johnny Gallagher & Boxtie, Sean Gallagher, Frankie McKiernan, Catherine Barrett and Connie Murray who all gave up their time to provide such wonderful entertainment.

Club Coaches and Mentors: Although all competitions have now ended for the year, now is the time that we ask people within our community to contemplate getting involved with underage teams for 2017.Help is required at all age groups from U6s up to minors with both boys and girls teams.Coaching courses will be provided to cater for all abilities.

Masters Gaelic: Congratulations to Daniel Branley (player) and Darragh Dolan (mentor) on their All Ireland Masters Shield victory over Offaly last weekend.

The senior agm will take place on Sunday, 27th November at 3pm in the Holyrood Hotel. KILLYBEGS

There will be a minor board meeting in Fintra on Thursday 17th at 9pm.

This week's Kilotto numbers were 7,10,13,15. There was no Jackpot winner. Next week’s Jackpot is €8,100. There were three match 3 winners this week, they were John Ban Gallagher, Eoin McGing and Stephen McCallig.

There was no Jackpot winner in the mini lotto on Sunday night last.

The numbers drawn were 4,11,14,16,17,18. The Match five winners were Mark Langan, Gortnalake, John McElhinney, Sandhill, Sligo, RJ McElhinney, Hornhead and Geraldine Devli,n Northern Ireland, who won €25 each. This week’s jackpot is €2,300.

This month’s 50 club winners were: €65 - Sarah Ann Ferry Murroe, €35 - Mary Ferry Murroe and €25 - Noreen Toye, Creeslough

The Minor Board agm takes place in Creeslough Day Centre on Tuesday, 22nd November at 8pm.

The academy continues on Sundays at St Michael 's Clubhouse, for 4-6 and for 7-10 year olds.

LETTERKENNY GAELS

Míle buíochas to all the Gaels who competed in Scór on Friday night past. Congratulations to the quiz team who won and will go on to the county final in two weeks time.

The club hosted Camogie 4 teens U-10 blitz last Saturday in the LYIT. 65 girls from five clubs played some excellent matches.

Letterkenny Gaels ladies are delighted to announce their winter Ladies Football Training programme. During the winter months the circuit based training will take place indoors at the Gaels Clubrooms on the Thorn Road.

NAOMH BRID

There was no overall winner of this week’s lotto draw. The jackpot now stands at £3,100. The numbers drawn were 1, 7, 18, 20, 24. The £25 winners were Sean Timoney, Pamela McGrath, Cody Shay Higgins, Eamon Gorman.

The club are running the GAA Draw with a car as the star prize. Tickets are priced €10 and available from our club volunteers.

The club agm is on 27th November in the club house.

Concert is due to take place in the Community Centre on 9th December. Local talent taking part.

The Bord Na Og held their agm and re-elected were chairman Paddy Battle, secretary Mickey Quinn, and treasurer Bridín McGarrigle.

Well done to the U16s who were presented with their Divisional championship medals in the Community Centre on Saturday evening. Mick Calvey also presented a framed photo of each player with the cup.

Congratulations to Stephen Walls who was a member of the Donegal Masters team who won the All Ireland Masters Shield final.

MILFORD

The club will hold an underage presentation awards night on Saturday, 19th November in Ray Community Centre at 6pm. Special guest for the evening is All Star Ryan McHugh.

Shaun Paul Barrett’s minors, who won the Ulster league and Championship this year, will be honoured by the county board with a presentation night this Friday in the Villa Rose Hotel, Ballybofey.

U6 FUN-damentals training continues every Friday for the next four weeks in Loreto Community School. All welcome, any queries contact Nigel Black on 086-8128869.

After the weekend our interest in Scór na n Óg has come to an end. We would like to thank all those who took part and those who helped and came along to the events. We are very proud of all contestants for the effort they put in.

GLENSWILLY

This year’s agm will be held on Sunday, 20th

November at 3pm in the clubhouse. The nomination letters were posted out on Thursday, 3rd November. Nominations and motions should be returned to Aisling McDaid, Glenkeeragh, New Mills, Letterkenny. The deadline for returns is Thursday, 17th Nov at 5pm.

The club would like to urge people to get involved and help out in your local Gaelic club on both match days and at underage level.

Glenswilly GAA annual card drive is on this Friday night, November 18th with €2,500 in prize money. Please come along, tickets €25.

The Barney Pat McDaid memorial cup will also be presented to the winner.

As and from 1st December , CLG Dun na nGall will have an (club football only pass) Annual Club Pass for sale for the 2017 season.

This pass will give admission to all adult league and championship matches under the control of Donegal GAA for 2017 Season. The pass has an RRP of €149. Orders for 2017 Club Pass Orders will be taken via email to the county office from the club Secretary E-mail address only. Closing date for orders from clubs will be March 17th.

The winner of last week's club lotto was Catherine McBride of Churchill who matched two numbers. The winning numbers were 11,12, 20 and 22. The lotto is one of the club's main sources of fundraising and lottos are available in most local outlets.

TEARMAINN

Our season came to an end in dramatic fashion in the perfect surroundings of St Mary's Convoy on Sunday when a last minute goal earned Carndonagh the Donegal U16 B Championship. Hard luck boys, there will be other days.

On field activity for 2016 is now over and we wish to thank everyone that has helped make 2016 a huge success for our minor board.

Anyone that has an interest in assisting with any of our underage groups/ team in 2017 are invited to attend a Minor Board meeting in An Craoibhin next Monday at 8pm. We need new coaches, we need new helpers and we need referees and volunteers for our Minor Board committee.

There was great entertainment at the county semi-final of Scór na nÓg in Glenfin on Saturday evening, with jigs and polkas from our music group comprising Róisín Sweeney, John James Sweeney, Siobhán Corcoran, Dan O'Connell and Michelle Devlin, while Róisín also gave a beautiful rendition of "Raglan Road" before Róisín, SIobhán, Dan & John James also represented the club in the Tráth na gCeist.

Many congratulations to Kevin McGettigan and Adrian McGettigan, members of the Donegal Masters team who on Saturday last in Kilkerrin-Clonberne lifted the All Ireland shield title.

This year's AGM will take place on Saturday 3rd December at 6pm in An Craoibhín.
