Donegal U-21 manager Declan Bonner has labelled reports linking him to the vacant Cavan senior manager as ‘rumour.’
The 1992 All-Ireland winning manager was not available to speak yesterday. But in a one word text response querying his name being linked with the position he replied ‘rumour’.
Bonner is starting into his second year as Donegal U-21 manager and is in the early stages of plotting and planning for next season’s U-21 campaign.
And in recent weeks he has added 2012 All-Ireland winning goalkeeping coach Pat Shovlin to his management team.
Pat Shovlin and Jim McGuinness are close personal friends and the Democrat has learned that McGuinness is fully supportive of his former goalkeeping coach taking up the position.
And it is believed he has offered to be of assistance to Bonner and his management team in their bid for an Ulster U-21 title and ultimately a third All-Ireland U-21 crown.
