Disappointment in Rio for Donegal competitors over the weekend

Katie-George Dunlevy with her tandem partner, Eve McCrystal, were in action in the Paralympics in Rio yesterday but a 5th place finish in the Individual B Pursuit qualifiers meant they failed to reach the medal race.

On Friday, they were 7th in their first final, the 1,000m race against the clock.

Katie-George, although born in England, is competing for Ireland due to her connection with Mountcharles, where her father, John, is a native.

Meanwhile Donegal’s Rena McCarron Rooney got to the quarter finals in the women’s table tennis singles on Saturday but lost out against the world No.1, Korean, Seo Su-Yeon.

McCarron Rooney, who is from Buncrana, but now lives in Galway, lost by three games to nil in her last eight tie.
