Fanad Gaels hit big score against Carndonagh

A strong performance from Fanad saw them put a clear margin between themselves and Carndonagh on Saturday evening. It was just consolation, though, but they finished ahead of Carn with neither side advancing to the last eight.

Fanad Gaels . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3-13

Carndonagh . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2-07

Things were nip and tuck between the pair in the first half but the first goal of three from Eoghan Carr meant the home side came in at the break 1-5 to Carn’s 0-6.

Within seconds of the restart it became clear Fanad were looking for a big score with Michael Sweeney and Seamie Nanny Friel both rattling the crossbar and while the goals came from Carr, points from Niall Carr, McVeigh and Seamie Nanny saw them look comfortable throughout.

Two second half goals from Dermot Doherty kept Carn hopes alive but Fanad were strong in defense too and held firm for a big win.
