More headaches for Harps as game in Sligo abandoned

SSE AIRTRICITY PREMIER DIVISION

There seems to be a jinx on Sligo Rovers-Finn Harps fixtures this season as tonight's game at the Showgrounds was abandoned due to flooding.

Torrential rain in the Sligo area meant the game did not get past the 21 minute mark and will now have to be replayed.

The referee deemed that the pitch was unplayable and as the rain was continuing he had no choice but to abandon the fixture.

This is not the first time for a Harps-Sligo game to have a problem this season as their earlier league game was cut short because of a floodlight failure at the Showgrounds. However, the result in that game stood.

The FAI will refix the tie for another date, possibly next weekend as Harps and Sligo are not involved in the cup.
