Aodh Ruadh overcome Kilcar in minor championship

Aodh Ruadh put in a good second half performance to get the better of Kilcar in Towney on Friday evening in the second leg of the Minor Championship.

Kilcar 1-7

Aodh Ruadh 3-6

After the sides played out an exciting draw in the first leg in Fr. Tierney Park on August Bank Holiday Monday, this was again a fairly close encounter, although the Ballyshannon lads always held the upper hand.

Once again big full-forward Oisin Rooney, as he had done in the first leg, was a constant threat as Aodh Ruadh led at half-time by 0-5 to 0-2.

It seemed that the lead might not be enough into the strong breeze, but Aodh Ruadh put up a very strong second half performance with county stars Nathan Boyle and Shane McGrath stepping up to the mark getting the goals that made the difference.

Pauric McShane got the goal for the home side.

Aodh Ruadh now advance to a meeting with neighbours Bundoran, which should draw plenty of interest.
