Conor Lane to referee All-Ireland final

The GAA has confirmed the referees and match officials for the 2016 GAA Football All-Ireland Senior and Minor Championship finals on September 18 with Conor Lane confirmed as the referee for the senior final, this will be Conor’s first Senior Final.

Lane from Cork will take charge of the All-Ireland Senior final between Dublin and Mayo, while Ciaran Branagan from Down will officiate the Minor game between Kerry & Galway.

Conor Lane a member of the Banteer/Lyre club has also refereed the All-Ireland Minor final in 2013 between Mayo & Tyrone, Connacht final in 2013 & 2016 and the AIB Senior Club final in 2016. Conor has also refereed the Allianz Football League Division 2 Final in

2013 and Division 3 Final in 2012.

In this year’s Football Championship, Conor has refereed the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Quarter-Final between Galway & Tipperary, Connacht Senior Football Final between Galway & Roscommon, Connacht Semi Final Mayo v Galway, Ulster Senior

Football Semi Final between Monaghan & Down and the AIB All-Ireland Senior Football

Club Final between Ballyboden/St Enda's & Castlebar Mitchels.

His umpires on the day will be John Joe Lane, DJ O'Sullivan (both Banteer/Lyre), Ray Hegarty (Bride Rovers) and Pat Kelly (Kilshannig).

Laois’s Maurice Deegan will be the standby referee. The other linesman is Joe McQuillan (Cavan) and the Sideline official will be Derek O’Mahoney (Tipperary).

Ciaran Branagan, who will be officiating the Minor final, is a member of the Clonduff club.

In this year’s football championship, Ciaran has refereed the Connacht Senior Football Final Replay between Galway & Roscommon, GAA Senior Football Quarter Final involving Dublin & Donegal, GAA Senior Football Round 2B between Monaghan & Longford and the Leinster Senior Football Quarter Final clash between Dublin & Laois and the Allianz Football League Division 2 Final between Tyrone and Cavan.

His umpires on the day will be Mark Doherty (Ballykinlar), Mickey Curran (Ardglass), Seamus O'Hanlon (Kilcoo) & Marty Brady (RGU Downpatrick).

Roscommon’s Patrick Neilan will be the standby referee, the other linesman is Niall Cullen (Fermanagh) and the Sideline Official will be James Bermingham (Cork).
