McCrossan wins the Castle Cycles/ Four Masters Summer League 2016

Last Tuesday evening Kevin McCrossan received the 2016 Castle Cycles / Four Masters Summer League Cup. He finished his campaign with a fine 3rd place in a hotly contested 10 mile TT in Burt when the top 5 all had course PB's. Kevin had clinched the league the previous week at the Galdonagh RR. He scored well in all the rounds since the league started in May and his consistency in all events ensured that he was going to be very difficult to catch.

Although the league winner had been decided before the TT, the big fight was to see who would finish 2nd and 3rd. Chris Birney (Sportactive) and Rory Devlin (Caldwells) were level on 68 points each, with 3 event wins each, so the winner between the two would ensure the runner up spot. Both delivered PB's, but it was Chris Birney who clocked a fastest time of 22.02 to finish runner up, Rory was timed at 23.21 to finish 4th on the night. Kieran Porter (SLCC) was 2nd in 23.15 with league winner McCrossan one second slower.

Kevin ended up with a league total of 115 points, scoring in every round, Chris Birney despite missing quite a few of the earlier rounds, ended up 83 points and winning all 4 time trials that he started. Rory, who also missed a few rounds finished on 80 points. Troy Hegarty was the leading unplaced Four Masters rider on 48 points, while Paddy Carr was the best league attendee. There were 117 league participants that scored points in the 2016 campaign.

Four Masters CC would like to thank Michael Curran, Castle Cycles, who sponsored the podium prizes for the league, Paddy Carr who took care of all timekeeping and the finish adjudication. Kevin McClintock, Robert McCollum, Troy Hegarty, John Curran and Wesley Moore who all put in a load of work to ensure that the league ran throughout the summer, every one that marshalled to make sure that riders competed safely and finally all the riders that competed in the Summer League. We hope to see you all next year again when we hope to have more different events included in 2017.
