Ballybofey United came out on top in the Lifford Area final of the Brian McCormick Sports Cup on Sunday.
Ballybofey United 4
Castlefin Celtic 1
After winning their opening two games in the cup against Curragh Athletic and Kildrum Tigers, Ballybofey United went into the final knowing that it was going to take another mighty effort to overcome an experienced Castlefin Celtic side who have won the Brian Mc Cormick Cup in the not too distant past.
Brian Lafferty has instilled a workmanlike ethos to his troops since taking over at United.
Once again on Sunday they were quick out of the blocks and wasted little in attack and took their chances. Mark Griffin got the opening two goals before Damien Glackin made it 3-0 at the interval.
Stephen Roulston pulled a goal back for Celtic early in the second half but this was to be their only offering of note as Ballybofey scored again through Glackin to take the Area Shield on a scoreline of 4-1
