Burt 3-13

St Eunan’s 3-10

Just three points separated the sides at the finish as a young St Eunan’s pushed the champions all the way.

And in the end it was the Burt’s greater craft and experience and ability not to panic when under pressure which proved the difference at the final whistle.

Enda McDermott (2) and Ronan McDermott scored the Burt goals. Kevin Kealy, Niall O’Donnell and Conor Parke were the St Eunan’s goal scorers.

Burt led by two points, 1-6 to 0-7, at half-time after St Eunan’s finished with a late scoring burst and three points without reply.

Enda McDermott scored the Burt goal and also hit a point for the champions while Niall Campbell (3) and Gavin McGrath also raised white flags for the champions.

Sean McVeigh scored all but one of St Eunan’s first half points. Kevin Kealy posted the other.

St Eunan’s temporarily led early in the second half after Kealy found the Burt net when he got a flick to a long range strike from Aidie Gaffey.

Burt responded well and thanks to goals from Ronan and Enda McDermott, they had taken a firm grip and had opened up a seven point, 3-9 to 1-8 lead by the three quarter mark.

Niall O’Donnell did respond with a St Eunan’s goal but Burt were back in the driving seat and leading 3-13 to 2-10 before Conor Parke’s long range strike ended up in the back of the Burt net.
