Donegal rower Sinead Jennings and her doubles partner Claire Lambe are hoping to get semi-final action today (Thursday) at the Rio Olympics.
The semi-final were due to be run yesterday (Wednesday) but the rowing was cancelled due to high winds.
Meanwhile Chloe Magee begins her bid for Olympic glory at 1 pm today (Thursday) when she faces the number two seed, Wang Yihan, in the women’s singles badminton.
Chloe is in a group of three along with Yihan and Karin Schnasse from Germany. The Magee/Schnasse match is on Saturday at 1.05 pm with Schnasse and Yinhan meeting on Sunday at 7.30 pm. Just one to qualify from group.
Mark English, one of Ireland’s medal hopes in the athletics, is in action tomorrow (Friday) in the 800 metre heats, which get underway at 12.10 pm and if successful English will be out again on Saturday in the semi-final. The first of the semi-finals is timed for 2.05 pm on Saturday.
Breege Connolly from Kinlough goes in the Women’s Marathon on Sunday at 3.10 pm.
Walker Brendan Boyce is the last of the Donegal competitors into action. The Milford man goes in the Men’s 50k walk next Friday, August 13th.
