There are two important events on the Donegal Grand Prix athletics calendar over the coming days with athletes having the chance to tackle two long distance races.
First up on Sunday is the Danny McDaid 15k road race in Letterkenny.
Organised by Letterkenny AC, the race starts at 11.30am. It's an event which provides runners with an opportunity to race over a distance rarely run in Irish athletics and is ideal preparation for a half or full marathon. Registration will be at the Aura Leisure Centre.
On Sunday week, August 7th, Lifford Strabane AC will host its annual Riverine 10k with a start time of 10am.
In its fourth year, the cross border 10k was the precursor to the hugely successful Strabane Lifford Half Marathon which this year attracted 1,500 entrants. The 10K course is recognised as one of the flattest and fastest courses around and has traditionally attracted big numbers seeking fast times.
Pre registration for the event is only €10 through the Athletics Ireland on line portal with late entry of €15 on the day.
Further information available through the Riverine 10K Facebook page or contact Brendan O’Donnell on 086-6007847.
In the week ahead the Grand Prix series offers 5ks in Castlefinn (Friday), Cranford, Tommy McBride race (Saturday), Glenties (Monday), Clonmany (Wednesday) and Creeslough (Thursday).
