The Summer Showjumping League kicked off at Deane’s Equestrian Centre last Sunday and there were some nerves on show as riders have to jumped in competition for a while.
The 40cm class kick started the show Freya Moohan on Meenarilagh had the perfect start to the day jumping a lovely clear round. Christina Gysling was riding a new pony called Shadow and picked up an unlucky 4 faults but jumped well.
In the 50cm class all the riders took on the course with enthusiasm and picked up clear round rosettes. Freya Moohan and Christina Gysling were in the rosettes again. While Ella McLoughlin on Thunder had to work hard for hers.
The 60cm class had only two clear rounds Freya Beale on Piper and Hollie Bradley on Tango both jockeys rode super rounds. Rebecca Morrow on Emerald Boy had a great round despite a little bit of rodeo from her pony.
The 70cm class again had only two clear rounds and they went to Ally McClay on Jayzee and Lucy Stewart on Dedo. Freya Beale on Piper was going well up to the second last fence but had an unfortunate fall.
The 80cm Class saw Ally McClay and Jayzee pick up their second clear round rosette for the day with another super round of jumps. Hannah Marie Slater on Pierre flew around the course going clear and picking up a clear round rosette . Nuala Ni Dhomhnaill on Lacey was glad to get out jumping after the Leaving Cert exams and she picked up a well deserved clear round rosette. Cyndi Graham on Dougal were unlucky to pick up 4 faults for their round.
The 90cm Class had Hannah Marie Slater and Nuala Ni Dhomhnaill back in action and they made the course look easy as they flew around both riders picked up a second clear round rosette. Gemma Baird on her horse Jasper looked like they had wings as they cleared the fences
The 1m class had Gemma Baird back in producing another fab round and another clear round rosette.
The Summer League continues next week 3rd of July with a break on the 10th for the local Donegal Town Showjumping and returns on the 17th , 24th & 31st of July. A break on the 7th of August jumping again with the Final 14th of August. Riders must compete in 3 competitions to qualify for the Final. Thanks to everyone who helped on the day.
