Euro 2016 dream ends

The Euro 2016 dream came to an end for Seamie Coleman and Ireland on Sunday but they come home with their heads held high after losing the last 16 game 2-1 to France.

The Killybegs man was again captain of the side and an early penalty from Robbie Brady had the Irish support in dreamland.

But the French hit for two goals in three minutes around the hour mark, both scored by Antoine Griezmann of Atletic Madrid.

Coleman looks likely to be handed the Irish captain's armband long term after the two performances this week as the tournament is likely to mark the end of many of the older members of the squad, including John O'Shea and Robbie Keane.
