Another crucial victory as Harps win in Longford

Josh Mailey and Tony McNamee got the goals as Finn Harps recorded another impressive win, this time against Longford Town on Friday night.

Longford Town 0

Finn Harps 2

The match at Longford's City Calling Stadium was one of six games in the top division as the league returned after the mid-season break.

Harps knew that a good result would maintain the gap between themselves and Longford who were bottom of the table.

Ollie Horgan side took the lead on 18 minutes when Mailey scored.

And that lead was extended 16 minutes from time when Tony McNamee pounced to find the net.

Both players were part of a much changed Harps side which included Ryan McConnell in defence while Barry Molloy and Damien McNulty also returned.

The result leaves Harps a full 12 points clear of Longford.

Former Harps striker Nathan Boyle did his old club a favour by scoring the winner for Derry City against Wexford Youths at the Brandywell.

Bray Wanderers, another side struggling for points, drew 0-0 at Sligo Rovers.
