DONEGAL RALLY: Boyles are out, Seamus Leonard leads at end of Day Two

Declan and Brian Boyle's hopes of claiming another victory in the Donegal International Rally ended on the final stage on Saturday.

The Donegal crew suffered mechanical trouble in their Fiesta WRC on Special Stage 14 at Gartan and failed to finish the stage.

They had been comfortable leaders all day, and were almost two minutes clear of Seamus Leonard and John McCafferty after Special Stage 13 at Carnhill.

But it's Leonard and McCafferty, driving a Subaru S14, who now lead the way going into the final day's action.

They hold a narrow 3.3 second lead over Keith Cronin and Mikie Galvin in a Citroen DS3 R5.

In third are Sam Moffett and Karl Atkinson in their Ford Fiesta R5 while Manus Kelly and Donal Barrett are fourth in their Subaru S12.

They are well placed ahead of Sunday's final six stages, just 34.1 seconds off the lead.

In the National section, Frank Kelly and Michael Coady in a Ford Escort Mk2 lead by nine seconds.

The Escort Mk2s make up the top four places in this category with David Bogie and Enda Sherry in second spot, Damien Gallagher and Mac Walsh third and Damien Tourish and Domhnall McAlaney fourth.

The final day on Sunday sees High Glen, Atlantic Drive and Fanad Head all done twice with the first car due on High Glen for Stage 15 at 11.25am.
