The charity fundraising golf event organised by Danny O'Carroll of Mrs. Brown's Boys last Friday, drew a big crowd to Rosapenna Golf Club last Friday.
The fundraiser was a major success, raising much needed support for Pieta House and the Louise James Buncrana Pier Tragedy fund.
But there was loads more happening on the golf courses around Donegal this week.
Here's a round up from our local courses and societies :
BALLYBOFEY AND STRANORLAR
Apologies for last week's results not being posted due to technical difficulties.
The club had mixed results over the last two weeks in GUI Competitions. The Ulster Cup team under the guidance of John McMenamin lost out to Mahee Island aftet having a promising result in the first leg at home. Our Minor League team were also narrowly beaten by Letterkenny GC and talking to team capt P.J Fitzgerald afterwards, he said he really thought he had a team built up that could possibly go all the way.
The All Ireland Mixed Foursomes Team qualified in Newtownstewart and now meet Moyola in N/S in the play off. Well done to Terry Farrell and his team on that one.
Congratulations to Fergus McMenamin and his All Ireland 4Ball Team who eliminated Rockmount and now face Moyola in the next round.
Donegal Seniors, under the watchful eye of Joe Henderson, take on Narin/Portnoo this Friday for the first leg round at home. Best of luck to Joe and team.
Alistair Henderson took his Pierce Purcell team to Dunfanaghy GC for the qualifiers and were to lose out by just two points, so there seems to be good hope there for next year Alastair.
On Monday evening last our Jimmy Bruen team, after having qualified two weeks ago in the same venue, headed into Letterkenny GC to take on Strabane Golf Club. Strabane have always been a classy side in this particular competition and proved difficult for a lot of opposition in the past. Well what a match it turned out to be. Strabane, true to form, started strong but Captain, Tony Fullen's team pulled off a remarkable victory which sends them into the Ulster Open Draw.
