Molloy and Cowan to miss Tallaght trip

Keith Cowan and Barry Molloy are both ruled out for Finn Harps ahead of Sunday's trip to Shamrock Rovers in the SSE Airtricity Premier Division (3pm).

Cowan missed the defeat by Crumlin United in the FAI Cup because of a hip complaint while Molloy is suspended for this weekend after being sent off in that same game.

So once again, Harps boss, Ollie Horgan, will have to shuffle his pack as the side aims to halt a run of three straight defeats.

“It's been a difficult time of it, but it could get worse before it gets better,” Horgan said yesterday.

“We were very disappointed at the manner of the defeat against Crumlin, there's no point in me saying otherwise.

“They are a cracking side, but there's no excuse for a Premier Division club to lose against a non-league side, it's as simple as that.

“We need to get the attitude right and produce the kind of performances that have been getting us through the season before now.

“If we don't do that pretty quickly, we'll struggle to turn things around.”

Harps make the trip to Tallaght Stadium to meet a Shamrock Rovers side who stole a fortunate 1-0 victory when the sides met in Ballybofey back in March.

Horgan's side's preparations have been helped by the fact that they were able to train on Tuesday and will train again tonight and on Saturday.

“With all the games we've had of late, we've only been meeting for recovery sessions and haven't really been able to train properly at all,” Horgan said.

“So at least that's a positive and for the rest of the season, there's probably only one more week where we'll have a double week of fixtures.

“It means we'll get a proper break between matches now and the excuse of fatigue now goes out the window.”

Despite their recent poor run, Harps remain 8th in the Premier Division, six points clear of the bottom two of Bray and Longford Town.
