Twin Towns BC boxer, Donna Barr, will have her first contest at the World Boxing Championships on Saturday in Kazakhstan.
The 48kg contest will pit Strabane native Barr against Canadian Kim Klavel. The fight is set for Saturday afternoon.
After the weigh-in yesterday (Wednesday) Donna speaking after the draws and preliminaries had been completed said she was really looking forward to the contest.
"I can't wait to get in now and give it all I've got," said Donna.
One of her coaches at Twin Towns Boxing Club, Brian Anderson, was very happy with the draw. "She has got a favourable draw and she is very enthusiastic. If she gets through on Saturday she will face a Romanian in the next round," said Brian.
The Twin Towns boxer is part of an Irish team that includes World champion, Katie Taylor, who is seeking Olympic qualification at the championships.
Former Finn Valley BC boxer, Austeja Auciute, now representing Lithuania, has been drawn to face an Irish boxer, Kelly Harrington, Glasnevin, Dublin, in the 64kg category.
