Naomh Conaill are champions thanks to narrow win over Aodh Ruadh

Naomh Conaill are Donegal Southern U-14 League champions following a narrow win over Aodh Ruadh in a highly exciting Southern final played in Fintra on Monday night.

Naomh Conaill 3-8

Aodh Ruadh 3-6

Odhran McCallig, Jack Boyle and Daniel Gildea scored the goals for Naomh Conaill while Senan Rooney, Kyle McCafferty and Harry Howarth bagged the Aodh Ruadh goals.

Naomh Conaill led 2-5 to 0-2 at half-time and were the better side in the first half with McCallig and Boyle netting the goals. Aodh Ruadh, the pre match favourites, only played in fits and starts in the opening half hour.

There was drama at the end when Naomh Conaill were awarded a controversial penalty.
