Harps back to earth with a bump as Dundalk hit seven

The champions Dundalk handed Harps their heaviest ever league defeat with the gulf in class all too evident at Finn Park on Friday night.

Dundalk 7

Harps were unbeaten in three going into this game - and were bouyed by the great result at Derry City on Tuesday night.

However, they were simply no match for a ruthless Dundalk side who quite simply, could have won by more.

Robbie Benson scored two in the opening 20 minutes and goals from Daryl Horgan and a Ronan Finn shot which deflected in off Ciaran Coll left it 4-0 at half time.

The visitors continued where they left off after the break with goals from David McMillan and Andy Boyle putting thm 6-0 to the good. Substitute Paddy Barrett completed the rout in injury time.
