With the club championship getting underway this weekend, there's a real buzz around Donegal's GAA clubs this week.
Here's a look at what's happening in your local club.
The club would like to extend their deepest sympathy to the family of John Laverty following his recent passing. John was the first Club Captain to lift a Senior County Championship for the Club back in 1959 and he also represented Donegal. Our thoughts go out to his wife Marie and children, Stephen, Anita, Maurice, Frank, Shaun, Raymond, Martina, Geraldine, Catriona, his brothers and sisters and entire extended family. The ladies lost out to a strong Fanad Gaels team on Sunday morning. Training continues on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 7.00pm and all new members are welcome.
There was no winner of this week's Lotto. The numbers drawn were 13, 17, 18 and 29. There was no match 3 winners so 3 names were picked out: Pete Byrne, Paul McCabe and Cora McLaughlin who receive €30 each. This week’s jackpot is a massive €10,000 and Shane McNulty and Stephen Lynch’s team is selling.
Four people shared the match 3 €100 prize in our club Lotto on Friday night. There was no jackpot winner which leaves next weeks jackpot a massive €5300.

Malin seniors lost away on Saturday to Killybegs. on a scoreline of Killybegs 3-05 Malin 1-10. Next week sees the start of the Michael Murphy Sports Senior Championship with Malin facing Sean MacCumhaill’s at home on Sunday.

The Under 16’s lost out to Urris in the Darren Downey/Gary McLaughlin Inishowen B-final on Sunday in Burt on a scoreline of Malin. The team on the night was Ronan Lafferty, , Oran Doherty, Ronan Kelly, Matthew Mullarkey, Jason Mullarkey, Kealan White, Josh Conlon, Daniel Houghton, Ciaran Doherty, Jack McLaughlin, Sean O’Neill, Liam Doherty, Sean Byrne, Cormac Conlan and Martin O’Connor. There was no winner of this weeks jackpot of €1700, the numbers drawn were 3-2-5-1-6-7-4. The €50 winner was Geraldine McGonagle, Drumcarbit, next weeks jackpot is €1750.

Hard luck to the U14 boys who lost to Fanad Gaels in the quarter final on Tuesday. The U12 team got their year off to a great start when the beat Letterkenny Gaels at home on Wednesday.
Congratulations to Karen Guthrie, Grainne Houston, Yvonne McMonagle, Katy Herron and Gemma Glackin who were all part of the Donegal Ladies panel that won promotion to Division One of the National football league last Saturday in Dublin.
They beat Westmeath in the division 2 final on a score of 3.17 to 0.13. Four of the girls were on the starting 15 and they played a big part in this victory.
The seniors and reserves played at home to MacCumhaill’s on Saturday. The reserves unfortunately lost. The team was Mark Temple; Shaun McGlynn, Finnian McGlinchey, Sean Foy (0-1); Aodhfin McGlynn,Steven Dorrian, Paul Bonner (0-2); Hugh Foy, Tony Carlin; Ronan Carlin (0-1), Liam Moy, Dylan McGlynn; PJ Scanlon, Shane Moy. Subs used William McGlynn for Finnian McGlinchey, Liam Breen for Liam Moy, Christopher McBrearty (0-2) for Dylan McGlynn. The seniors had a great victory.

Congratulations to the junior Team who won the McArdle Cup on Sunday at Colindale, all the lads are English born. Well done to Paul Coggins and all the background team and players.
Well done to the TCG lads who were part of the U18 London Development Team who played Warwickshire in the McCarthy Cup as part of the 1916 Celebrations held at Ruislip - Conor McCarthy, Daniel O'Connell, Conor Redmond and Conal Vaughan.
A fantastic day of youth gaelic football was had at the U13 Peter McGlynn Tournament and accompanying blitz. Congratulations to the winners on the day:- Cup - Dulwich Harps, Shield - St Clarets and Plate - North London Shamrocks. Presentations were made by Mickey and Margaret McGlynn who flew over from Ireland especially for the Tournament which is held in memory of their son Peter and also gave them the opportunity to catch up with old friends.
A massive thank you to the TCG Ladies who managed the kitchen and tuck shop and to Joel McInern and the whole TCG Team who, with their endless efforts, ensure that the day was a success.
The seniors kept up their recent good run with a win over Termon last Saturday evening in Towney.

The seniors played away to Naomh Mhuire on Saturday evening last coming away with a win.

The senior ladies made the short trip to near neighbours St.Nauls on Sunday morning for their shield competition match. Well worked goals from Grace Nolan and Eimear Mc Groary was recognition for their efforts. There were good performances throughout from Casey Harvey, Aine McGroarty, Chloe Masterson and Damaris Scott. Next up is Gaoth Dobhair at home next Sunday.

5K Walk/Run: 5K Walk/Run takes place on Friday 13th of may at 7 pm to raise funds to upgrade the gym in the A.V.S €8 each.

Well done to the U-16 football team who won the Naomh Muire Invitational Tournament in Annagry last Friday evening. The lads overcame St. Michaels in the final.
Both the senior and reserve footballers were defeated when they travelled to Ballyshannon at the weekend. The U-12 footballers got their season off to a start on Thursday evening when they travelled to Glenfin. Unfortunately the lads came up short on the night and were defeated by a strong Glenfin side.

An Irish traditional music session will be launched in Silver Tassie on Sunday 15th May from 7-8pm. This family friendly session is intended to encourage anyone and everyone to come along and get involved in playing a little trad, singing an Irish song, enjoying the craic agus b'fheidir ag labhairt gíota beag Gaeilge. The second round of the News & Views Town League took place last Saturday with Ryan's Raiders defeating Lee's Lions and Cealum’s Chargers losing out against Jayden's Jaguars. To say that the events of last Saturday night in Glenswilly were disappointing is an understatement. That said we must now move on and will do so the stronger for it starting next Saturday when both teams travel to Dungloe for the first games in this year's Championship.

The understrength seniors lost their unbeaten league start at the weekend in terrible conditions against Gaoth Dobhair, the Reserves also lost their game.
The senior ladies were beaten by Carndonagh on Sunday and they have no game this week. Well done to Kaneshia McKinney and Eimhear Bradley who were part of the Donegal Ladies team that won the National League Division Two title at the weekend.
The minor boys footballers defeated St. Michael’s by the narrowest of margins last week in the Northern Final despite dominating much of the game. The old adage about goals winning games nearly came true as the lads scraped over the line on a 1-12 to 3-05 scoreline with Niall O’Donnell scoring a brilliant individual goal.
The minor hurlers had a good win over Setanta last week and they host Aodh Ruadh, BS this Thursday.
The U12 Boys footballers travelled to Cloughaneely and tasted defeat in their Go Games opener, they host St. Michael’s this Wednesday at 6:30pm. The U11 team lost at home to Robert Emmett’s.

Peter Gallagher and James O'Donnell's men continued their faultless start to the season with a hard earned victory over Letterkenny Gaels, in testing conditions on Saturday evening at Father Tierney Park. The reserves also recorded an impressive win over Letterkenny Gaels. They are away to Cloughaneely in championship next Saturday, 6 and 7.30 p.m.
Aodh Ruadh under 14s made the long trip to Dungloe on Monday evening and came back with a draw on a scoreline of 3-9 to 4-6 which ensured Ballyshannon topped Division One after the round robin stages. Aodh Ruadh had the better of the first half to go in at the interval leading by 2-5 to 1-5. However the hosts came out all guns blazing in the second half and it took a wonder strike of a goal from Frankie McGinley to ensure that Aodh Ruadh topped the table. Also among the goals was Senan Rooney with a brace which capped another fine outing at midfield from the Corker man. There were decent defensive showings from Kyle Murray and Eugene Doherty, while up front Colm McGloin continued his fine attacking form. That result sets up a rematch in the league semi-final which will take place on either Friday or Saturday, with Dungloe travelling to Ballyshannon for that fixture.
The under 12s had a good start to the league on Monday with an away win against Ardara.
The under 10s have their first blitz of the year this Saturday in Mountcharles. Huge thanks to Naomh Bríd for hosting our under 8s at their blitz last Saturday. . Huge thanks also to Southern Board fixtures secretary Paul Martin who arranged for us to take part in Ballintra at short notice. Despite the cold and the wet the lads and lass all gave great accounts of themselves and played some lovely football. The Realt Ruadh ladies senior team are away to Glenties this Sunday at 12pm.
Aodh Ruadh under 14 girls put in a fantastic team display last Wednesday evening against a strong Glenties side, to remain unbeaten in the league. Aodh Ruadh were straight out of the blocks and within a few minutes were two points up thanks to Bridín Maguire and Sarah Jane Keon. Aodh Ruadh led 0-7 to 0-0 at halftime.
This year's Duck Race will take place on Saturday 28th May at 3pm. So mark the date in your calendar as it's always an entertaining afternoon.

Red Hughs overcame Moville to take top spot, a week after being beaten by Naomh Padraig Muff. Seosamh Mac Ceallabhuí’s team go two points clear, although Muff now have two games less played.

The seniors recorded a good win over Dungloe and the reserves lost to Dungloe on Saturday evening at the Bridge.

The minors played St Eunan’s in the Northern final in Convoy on Wednesday evening last, losing out by the narrowest of margins.
The parish league finals were held on Sunday last at the Bridge and coincided with la na Clubanna. It was a great event and the brilliant sunshine added to the occasion. Special thanks to the children and parents who supported the league all year, the ladies who did the gate, the people who supplied food and helped in the tea rooms, the men that set up the pitches each week and for the finals. Those who coached and refereed games, Brian McCafferty the Piper from Crolly who added greatly to the occasion, Michael Murphy for his continued support and for sponsoring the medals. Thanks to Moses and the local press for press coverage and continued support and especially to our special guests Colm Anthony McFadden and Martin McElhinney.

The U12s had a great start to their league campaign with a victory over Glenswilly last Wednesday night. The goals were scored by Anthony Curran (2), Liam Donnelly, Dara Kelly Cullen and Jordan Ryan while Johnny McCallum had a great game in nets with some excellent saves.

Well done to Glenswilly Community Games Teams, Under 10 Boys and Under 14 Girls who are Donegal Champions and are through to the Ulster round. Also congratulations to a young Under 12 Girls team who got silver medals on Saturday.
The senior team managed to get off the mark against Bundoran in a hard-fought encounter on Saturday last.
The match 2 in last week's club lotto was Kevin Cunningham of Bomany. The winning numbers were 13, 14, 17 and 20.

The U12 boys recorded two victories over St Michaels on Wednesday last. Ciaran Mc Cormick got the majority of the scores in what was a hard fought A game while a great team performance secured the win in the B match with Patrick Green, Jack O’Neill and Aidan Brennan to the fore.
Congrats to the U14 boys who progressed to the Northern Division One League Final when they defeated St Mary’s Convoy in a close fought encounter on Friday last. Two second half goals from Gallagher and Aaron Reid made the difference in the end. Great performances from Bobby McGettigan, Marty Steel, Stephen and Conor Black and Aaron Gallagher.
Congratulations to the Minor boys on securing our first silverware of the year when the won the Division Three league final last Wednesday night.. Goals from Eóin Doherty and Caolan Gallagher were decisive with Enda Mc Cormick involved in the majority of our scores.
Last week’s lotto draw took place in the Lagoon. Hollie McDaid, Sally Hilferty and Mari McClafferty matched 3. Open draw winner was Agnes Vaughan, Carrigart. Next week’s jackpot stands at €1,350.
The junior ladies defeated Letterkenny Gaels at the Burn Road on Sunday morning. And the senior ladies away to Milford and despite missing a number of starting players, played a stormer and left as victors.
The U14 Bs were away to Dungloe on Sunday morning where the young team played well showing that they are improving with every game under Lisa Mc Glynn’s guidance. Unfortunately though they were narrowly beaten and left without the points.
The U12 girls were in Glenswilly on Saturday to take part in the Community Games and after some fine performances from all the girls they are now the Community Games champions. Congratulations to all the girls and to their manager Lisa McGlynn.
Congratulations to the Donegal Senior Ladies and especially to the Termon girls, Emer, Geraldine, Nicole, Roisín, Shannon and Therese on winning the Division Two league.
Congratulations to club member Sonia Connaghan who was on the winning Ulster Kookaburas team which participated in the annual Aussie Rules competition at Bushy Park, Dublin, at the weekend where they beat the Dublin Angels in the final.
