The Donegal Gaeltacht finals prompted plenty of interest last weekend with a number of our clubs taking part in the various competitions.
Here's a round up of what's been happening around our local clubs.
The seniors lost out to Downings in the Junior Gaeltacht semi final last weekend in Glenties.
The club lotto draw took place last Monday evening in the hall. The jackpot was not won. The numbers drawn were 11, 16, 20,27.Lucky dip winners receive Johnny Gallagher, Dirlaught and Annmarie McGettigan, Derrylaconnell, win €50 each. Next weeks jackpot stands at €2850.
Congratulations to former senior player Odhran Gallagher who got married last Weekend.
The club would like to extend its sincere condolences to the families of John Melly and Packy Cannon who sadly passed away last weekend.
There was no winner of this week lotto.The numbers drawn were 1-8-20-23 and the €50 winners were Con Wright, Fintown and Anna O’Donnell, Drumaghy Park, Ardara Next week’s jJackpot will be €6,300.
The Comórtas Peile Na Gaeltachta Tír Chonaill finals was held in Glenties last weekend. The weekend started off on Friday evening with Naomh Conaill against Ardara in the U15 semi-final. It took extra time before Naomh Conaill come out on top.
The final game of the day was hosts Naomh Conaill against Dungloe with Naomh Conaill winning 0-16 to 1-9.
Naomh Conaill won the trath na gceist on Sunday night. The club executive would like to congratulate all the winners of the Gaeltacht and thank all the teams for taking part in the competition in Glenties last weekend. Big thanks must go to everyone who helped out to make this weekend happen which includes kitchen staff, shop staff, stewards, lotto sellers and anyone else who helped out in any way. The seniors and reserves defeated Termon, in the league on Saturday evening at the Bridge.
There was no jackpot winner in the mini lotto on Sunday night last. The numbers drawn were 5,6,9,10,11,15. This week’s Jackpot be €2050. Match 5 Winners were Michael McGinley, Deryherriff, Mark Lagan, Ards, Patricia Claire Col,l Ballyboes and Hugh Boyle, Gortnalake. They won €25 each.

The minor’s played home last Wednesday evening in the League semi final beating MacCumhaills and recording a comfortable win. Well Done to Molly Roarty who was part of the under 16 Donegal team who played Monaghan in Castleblaney on Sunday evening.
Well done also to Ciara McGarvey and Marcella Dolan who were on the Donegal U-14 team that defeated Armagh in Lurgan last Saturday.

The seniors recorded a five point victory over Urris last Saturday to chalk up their fifth successive win of the league campaign.
The senior footballers will be hosting a fundraising quiz in Seán Óg's on Friday, 6th May. All support would be greatly appreciated.
The minors league campaign ended at the semi-final stages in Ballintra last Wednesday. The team played their hearts out, but came up five points short against Naomh Conaill. Once again Nathan Boyle played a captain's role in midfield and was ably partnered by Conall Sweeney. Michael McKenna battled hard at half forward, while Jason Granaghan also gave a superb account of himself. Oisin Rooney came on and played through the pain barrier in the second half, and hit the back of the net into the bargain. The minors now have a break until championship in July.
The under 8s have their first blitz of the year this Saturday in Donegal town. The games get under way at 11am. As many parents / guardians as possible should come along to ensure we have lifts for all the players. We will be leaving the park at 10am. Those planning to head directly to Tir Chonaill Park are asked to text John on 0876431805 to let him know.
The under 14 ladies won their away game against Glenfin last Tuesday. The Shamettes held a decent lead by the break and extended that over the second half to run out 3-13 to 3-3 winners. Leah O'Brien and Bridín Maguire were among the goals, while Lucy McGlynn and Leah Travers did well in defence.
This year's Duck Race will take place on Saturday 28th May at 3pm.
Our minor hurlers were up against an exceptional Buncrana team in Fr Tierney Park last Thursday. Although well beaten the lads showed great character throughout the game and kept battling to the end. It's been a very difficult campaign for the lads but they deserve great credit for the way they competed all season.
Well done to Ryan Keenaghan who represented Creevy National School in the Cumann na mBunscol exhibition game at halftime in the Nicky Rackard Cup game in Letterkenny on Saturday.
On Bank Holiday Monday we hosted our annual Alan Ryan / Seamus Grimes under 14 hurling tournament. Eight teams from five counties took part in the tournament played in Páirc Aoidh Ruaidh and Erne Gaels pitch in Belleek.
There was no winner of last week's Aodh Ruadh Lotto jackpot of €4,300. The winning numbers drawn were 5, 7, 8, 9, 12 and 14. In the lucky dip €20 went to Marie Gallagher, Erne Street; Mary McElwaine, Cashelard; Johnny Gethins, Finner; Margaret McCauley, Mulleek; and PJ Buggy, The Abbey. The minors had a disappointing week losing their league semi final despite putting on a brave display
Both teams hosted tabletoppers Gaoth Dobhair on Saturday evening. All at the club would like to wish senior player Shane Carr a speedy recovery following surgery on a knee injury sustained in the match against Naomh Conaill.
The seniors drew away to Four Masters last weekend. Lá na gClubanna will be celebrated this year on Sunday May 8th. This is a day where we all, as a GAA community, get to celebrate our heritage, our existence, remember those valued members gone before us, and to acknowledge the role the GAA has in our community
The club will be having mass down at the GAA grounds on Sunday at 1 pm. Weather permitting it will be outdoors – otherwise we will move it inside the clubhouse. Afterwards tea and refreshments will be available in our club kitchen. The U-10 and the U-12 teams will also be putting their skills on display on the pitch. Later that night there will be a Quiz held in the Shamrock.We would like encourage as many of you as possible to join us as we celebrate the important role the GAA community (members, players, supporters’ and families) has in our society.
The next club meeting will take place on Tuesday, May 10th, at 8:30 pm in the club house.

The seniors were beaten at the weekend by Four Masters.. They beat Buncrana on Tuesday night in the semi-final of the Tom Farren Memorial Cup and now face Burt in the final.

The minor’s beat Fanad Gaels in Buncrana last Wednesday on a scoreline of Malin 2-8 to 0-10. Oisin McGonagle and Conor Bambrick scored the goals. Well done to Patrick Collins, Paul Gallagher and Terence McLaughlin and the whole minor squad and good luck in the final.

The ladies footballers welcomed MacCumhaills to Pairc na nGael at the weekend. The girls showed a marked improvement from their previous match against Fanad Gaels but unfortunately lost out to a strong Finn Valley side.
In the minor hurling league a great second half display saw the minor team seal a historic first ever victory for the Gaels at this level. Setanta led at the break and started well in the second half but Gaels began to settle and produce some skillful fast hurling. Well done to all involved.
Sympathy is extended to Dan Harnett and family and Aideen Quinn and family on their recent bereavements.

After great wins over Gweedore and Termon in the Gaeltacht Ardara proved a step too far for Na Galloglaigh on Sunday in Glenties.
The seniors played out an exciting draw with Killybegs on Friday evening in a game that could have went either way.

The club are celebrating their involvement in the award winning GAA Healthy Clubs project with a special event on Sunday, May 8th – La na gClubanna.
St Mary's is one of just 60 clubs nationwide participating in Phase Two and the Club Executive and Healthy Clubs project team would like to invite all members of the community to help celebrate this achievement through our local launch at La na gClubanna.
The Senior Ladies were in action on Monday in the final of Comórtas Pheil na Gaeltachta, where they were unfortunately beaten by a strong Glenfin side. However, the loss of the match was secondary to the fact that both Nicole and Geraldine were both injured within minutes of each other during the second half of the game. Both were stretchered from the field and were taken to hospital by ambulance. Both girls spent the night in hospital and everyone at the Club wish would like to wish Nicole and Geraldine speedy recoveries. We know how upsetting it was for the players, management and supporters to see two of our girls so seriously injured on the field of play, not to mention the girls and their family, and their full recovery to good health is uppermost in our thoughts.
The Juniors have a home game this Sunday morning at 10:30 against Letterkenny Gaels. All support greatly appreciated.
U14 Girls: The Division 2 team had an away game to Glenswilly on Sunday morning. The girls played well and took a point home, drawing in the end. Michaela Gallagher, Orla Gallagher and Áine McLaughlin were among those who played well. Up next is Dungloe away on Sunday, details will be texted out.
The Division 1 team were away to Downings on Monday morning and got themselves a well earned win against an up and coming Downings side. Among those who played well were Mya Alcorn, Ciara McGarvey and Lauren Russell. Next for the girls is a home fixture against Muff, details will be texted out.
Well done to the girls who were in action with our U14 county teams against Armagh at the weekend. Both teams left with full points.
The U12s kick off the season with an away game to Milford on Thursday the 5th of May.

Congrats to our U14 boys who progressed to the NRB Division 1 League Semi Finals with a comprehensive victory over Naomh Padraig Muff on Friday last. This Friday Paddy Gallagher’s and James Cassidy’s team face St Mary’s Convoy in the Semi Final at The Burn Road, 7pm throw in.
Our Minor boys finally produced the type of performance we knew they were capable of with an excellent team performance last Wednesday against Letterkenny Gaels securing a Div 3 NRB League Final spot.
This week’s lotto jackpot is €1,300 and the draw will take place in the Lagoon with Kath McSharry and Nicola Doherty co-ordinating.
The Seniors continued their good form in the League with a win away to Ardara on Friday night, the Reserves had no game.
The Juniors had a good win over Naomh Conaill on Saturday evening in the League and have no game this week.
The Senior Ladies travelled to Moville on Sunday and were beaten. The Senior hurlers have been idle the last couple of weeks and are waiting on confirmation of a game this week, possibly against Castleblaney in the Táin League. Keep an eye on social media for details.
Our U14 footballers had no luck in the Northern League q-finals. The Div. team losing out to N. Mhuire, Convoy in a very close game and the Div. 2 (U13) team gave a very good account of themselves away to Urris.
The club has confirmed that the annual 5k will take place on Tuesday, June 21st. The event has been a huge success in raising much-needed funds for the underage structures at the club and it is hoped as many entrants will join in the fun again this year. A full meeting and lunch will be held in the coming weeks and details will be released through the notes and on the club's Facebook page..
With only four days remaining to the Darkness into light 5k Walk /Run, this is a final reminder to anyone wishing to join our Club's Group
There has been a fantastic response again this year to this very worthy cause from both our male and female members. We will meet between 3.45am and 4.05 am in front of The Swilly Meat shop where we will have your t-shirt and Geraldine will take a group photo. The U14s boys were unlucky in their semi-final league game to be beaten by Moville by a single point after a real battle. We wish the Inishowen team the very best of luck for the final.
