GAA club call round up

GAA clubs in Donegal were well represented at last Sunday's 1916 celebrations in Croke Park.

For more on that and for all that's happening around the county, here's this week's club call.

GLEANN FHINNE

The winning numbers for the 19/04/16 are 4-5-1-7-6-8-2-3. Eamon Moy and Bridgin Byrne had three  numbers and win €30 each. Jackpot for 26/04/16 is €3200

The U14 Boys lost to Robert Emmetts on Monday last the 18th of April.

Minor boys are away to either Milford or Urris in the Division 3 semi-final this week.

The third team game against Glenties was cancelled on Saturday. Ther seniors and reserves played Four Masters at home on Sunday and unfortunately both team lost. The reserves lost by three points. The Glenfin scorers were Ross McDermott 0-5, Paul Bonner 1-0, Hugh Foy 0-1, Shane Moy 0-1.

Schools handball training will take a break now until September.

CLG Dhún na nGall will sponsor a total of six (6) grants to the value of €250 each to GAA members attending Irish language colleges of their choice in county Donegal. For more details contact Glenfin GAA club.

NAOMH MUIRE

This week's lotto numbers: 8, 17, 18, 19. No winners this week. Next weeks jackpot is €1700, remember if you're not in you can't win!!

MALIN GAA

The Club held a very successful Curry Night Club Fundraiser on Saturday with a great crowd in attendance. Congratulations to our own Aoife McColgan who was in goals for the Donegal Ladies on Saturday in Tyrone, who beat Cavan.

SEAN MACCUMHAILLS

Both senior men teams recorded wins over Naomh Columba on Sunday afternoon in Mac Cumhaill Park.

The thirds picked up their first points of the season with a victory over Ardara at Mac Cumhaill Park on Saturday evening.

There was no winner of this week's Lotto. The numbers drawn were 15, 16, 27 and 28. There were two match 3 winners: Luke Gavigan and Rita McBride who receive €75 each. This week’s jackpot is a massive €10,000.

MOVILLE

On Saturday evening the senior men made it three wins from three in the all county league.

The u8 and u10 girls and boys had a very enjoyable Saturday morning playing against Malin in the first of the Go Games.

Sunday evening all roads lead to Malin where our minor lads took on Muff in the Inishowen minor league final but unfortunately the result didn't fall our way.

Congratulations to our club members on the ladies county senior team who had a great win over Cavan on Saturday past in the division two league semi final.

The lotto jackpot was not won. The €50 winner was Antionette Hegarty. The  numbers drawn were 8,13,18,20. Next weeks jackpot €6,300.

CILL CHARTHA

The seniors and reserves had good wins against Ardara in Towney on Sunday. The Under 15s were defeated by St Nauls in the Comortas final. Well done to Brian O’Donnell, Gary Molloy and Daniel Lyons who were part of the Ulster Minor League winning team at the weekend and to Neilly Byrne who is on the management team.

Gaelic4girls this Thursday in Towney from 6-7pm, it for girls from 8-12 years and a sample of a training session for girls with their coaches It introduces girls to football in a fun environment and participants get a G4G T shirt and certificate on complication. Cost of the programme is €8 for the 12 weeks. For more information contact Caroline at 087-2696803.

There was no winner of the Club Lotto Jackpot so next week’s Jackpot is €4,300. This week’s numbers were: 3, 16, 20 and 24. The  winners were: €50- Cillian O’Donnell, Coguish, €30- Ben Rafferty, Drimreagh, €20- James Boyle, Kilcar and Brenda O’Donnell, Ballymoon.

The seniors and reserves were away to Gaoth Dobhair in Magheragallon. The reserves had lost on a scoreline of 1-10 to 2-9. The goal coming from a well taken penalty by James Boyle. A great team effort with an unfortunate result. The seniors lost.

A big congratulations to our Donegal Minors Mark Curran and  Ryan Connors on their win over Tyrone at the weekend. Donegal Minor Ulster League winners.

From all at the club we would like to congratulate and thank Dinny and  Breid O'Donnell of the Quay Road for representing the club in Croke Park on Sunday at the GAA commemorations.

CLOUGHANEELY

Cloughaneely travelled to face Naomh Muire at the weekend. Our reserves stole a last minute draw after they scored a goal in what was the last attack of the game.

In the senior game Naomh Muire  defeated Cloughaneely in what was a neck and neck encounter.

The U14 girls had a busy week beating Dungloe 4-8 to 1-1 on Thursday and beat Gaoth Dobhair by two  points on Saturday morning to make it three wins out of three.  

Congratulations to our own Jason McGee and Michael Mulhern and the Donegal minors who won their third minor league title in a row at the weekend.

ST NAULS

The club are holding a ‘Come Dine with Me’ event on Saturday May 21st.  If you’re interested in hosting, please contact Joe Brennan 0871202900; Mary Coughlan 086 8330202 or any club executive.  There will be a social night in O’Neills Bar, Drimarone to round off the evening.

Best of luck to our senior ladies play Ardara in the Intermediate Gaeltacht fiinal this Sunday 1st May.  The game is being played in Glenties Comprehensive School pitch at 4.30pm.  

Well done to our U14 girls who had a good win over Ardara on Monday evening last.

The SLOTTO  numbers drawn on 9th April were  6, 5, 4, 2, 7,1 3. The  consolation prize was won by  Aidan Kennedy, Inver.

If anyone has any unwanted clothing please use our Recycling facility at Club grounds.  Proceeds goes to our club.  

FOUR MASTERS

Well done to Lorcan O’Toole who managed Donegal minor hurlers last Friday in the Ulster Shield.

Well done to Aaron McCrea and the Donegal minor football team who defeated Tyrone  in the Ulster League final.

Well done to the u14 Division Two  boys football team who defeated Bundoran last Friday.

Well done to Micheál Naughton, Kate Keaney and the county ladies on their win at the weekend n Lidl NFL Division Two semi-final.

The lotto Jackpot of €700 for last week was not won. The weekly winners of €25 are Danielle Dunnion, Bru Na Mara. Thomas Carr, Milltown. Jim McLoughlin, Wilsons Creek. Seamus Martin, Drimenny. The numbers drawn were 2, 8, 14, 24. Next draw Monday 2nd of May.

The 5K  walk/run takes place on Friday 13th of may  at 7 pm to raise funds to upgrade the gym in the A.V.S €8 each.

NAOMH PADRAIG (LIFFORD)

The weekly lotto draw took place on Monday 25th April 2016. The numbers drawn were 2, 6, 12 and 13. There was no jackpot winner. Four people matched three numbers, each receiving €25. The winners were Johnny McCullagh, Tober, Maureen Gallagher, Dorras, Kieran Porter, Glencash and Kyran and Conor Doherty, Creatland. Next week’s jackpot will be €1700. The senior team had no game at the weekend.

NAOMH CONAILL

There was no winner of this week lotto.The numbers drawn were 1-16-18-20 and the €50 went to Michael Gallagher, Kilraine and John Gallagher, Church Road Next week’s Jackpot will be €6,200.

Naomh Conaill Gaa are asking all members for help for the Donegal Gaeltacht this May, If you are available to help out in any way as in stewarding, Kitchen, Lotto, Shop can you please contact any executive member asap. There will be meeting held on Thursday 28th April at 8:30pm in the clubhouse for anyone who will be available to help out that weekend.

The U14s won away to Four Masters by a point last Monday They are away to St Nauls this Friday 29th April at 6:30pm. Our U15 had a comprehensive victory away to Glenfin last Friday evening in the Gaeltachta.

The  senior and reserves teams had two great victories away against Realt na Mara last Sunday in the league,

Tá Fhó Chumann Naomh Conaill ag eagrú comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta i dTír Chonaill i mbliana, ag toiseacht as an Aoine 29ú Aibreán, go dtí Dé Luain 2ú Bealtaine.

Robert Farrell is doing the Waar challenge in the 14th May 2016 and all his proceeds raised are going towards the Naomh Conaill minor board. Robert will have sponsorship cards in all businesses around town and all minor board managers + Robert himself. 

KILLYBEGS

This week's Kilotto numbers were 9,20,21,25. There was no jackpot winner.  Next week’s jackpot is at €6,650. There were two match 3 winners, Brid O'Rourke and Brian O'Rourke, Stragar. They each win €30.

Both teams had a home date with St.Naul’s on Sunday afternoon. The reserves lost out by just the minimum after a strongly contested game.  Seniors came out on top for a second week running.

The club wish to thank all the members and ladies team who helped out with the bagpack on Saturday in Supervalu and to all those who donated generously. €704 was gathered in total.

Well done, and many thanks to John 'Baker' Boyle who represented our club and carried the club flag with pride at the Laochra in Croke Park on Sunday.

AODH RUADH

The monthly club executive meeting takes place this Thursday, 28th April, at 8.30 pm in Aras Aoidh Ruaidh. All committee members are asked to attend.

Their fourth win on the bounce sees Aodh Ruadh extending their winning run at the start of the season and go clear at the top of the division three table.

The  minors booked their place in the regional league semi-finals with a gutsy 2-14 to 1-9 victory over Four Masters in Tirchonaill Park on Monday evening.

Monday evening saw the team record a convincing 7-10 to 5-6 victory over St Naul's to move top of the division one table. They  led by 3-6 to 0-2 at halftime. Once again Matt Gillespie excelled between the posts, producing some superb stops, while in defence Marty McGarrigle gave one of his best displays of the season. Senan Rooney stood out at midfield while up front Cian Rooney and Colm McGloin were on fire.

The u-14s had mixed fortunes in Féile Peil na nÓg in Donegal town last Saturday. Some soft goals cost the team against Bundoran as they were pipped by a few points. However they powered back with renewed determination against Four Masters in the next and earned a well deserved win. The day's exertions told against Killybegs though, and Aodh Ruadh did not progress further. Peter Boyle was excellent at full forward as was Luke Toland at half forward. Patrick Meehan gave a very robust display at full back and Cillian Doyle also showed strongly.

Realt Ruadh ladies had a free weekend, but are playing their next game in Bundoran this Sunday at 11am against St Naul's..

This year's Duck Race will take place on Saturday 28th May at 3pm.

The minor’s hurlers travelled to Letterkenny to take on Letterkenny Gaels. Despite not playing well the lads managed to claim a draw, the sides finishing 2-8 apiece.

On Thursday our under 14s hurlers got back to winning ways at home to Letterkenny Gaels. With sickness and injuries we only had 12 players available, but these 12 were a credit to the club with their work rate on the night. They ran out convincing winners over the Letterkenny lads.

On Friday night the Donegal minor hurlers won the Ulster minor shield with a convincing 3-14 to 3-9 win over Tyrone in Celtic Park, Derry. They now go into the Ulster minor championship where they are up against Armagh. We were delighted to have three lads on the panel. Brian McHenry was corner back and did well, holding his man scoreless. Stephen Anderson got through an amount of work in midfield and got a lovely point in the second half. Conall Sweeney was an unused sub. .

Next Monday sees us host the annual Alan Ryan / Seamus Grimes tournament. This year it is being held for under 14s. The tournament has been going since 1998 to honour two former great Aodh Ruadh hurlers and their families.The following clubs have confirmed their participation: Tuam (Galway), Easkey (Sligo), Na Magha (Derry), Naomh Eoin (Sligo), Keady (Armagh), Drumcliffe (Sligo), Buncrana (Donegal) and ourselves. Play gets underway at 10.30am and all are welcome for what is sure to be a great day of hurling.

There was no winner of last week's Aodh Ruadh Lotto jackpot of €4,200. The winning numbers drawn were 4, 9, 10, 13, 14 and 18. In the lucky dip €20 went to Una Bonner, Assaroe View; Martin Rodgers, St Benildus Avenue; James Monaghan, Main Street, Pettigo; Louise Foy, Coolcholly; and Ronan Matthews. Next draw is on Sunday in Dicey Reilly's with a Jackpot of €4,300 on Sunday at 8.30pm.

REALT NA MARA

There was no lotto jackpot winner this week. The winning numbers were 1,10 ,14,17  19.The € 50 winners were Christine Magee, 10 High Green,  Ardglass, Co Down,  Pat Walsh, Claremorris Rd, Balla, Castlebar,  Co Mayo,  Robert Doherty, West End,Bundoran.

The News & Views Town League returned to Gaelic Park  after a number of years absence on Saturday last.In the first game Ryan McGloins Raiders defeated Jayden Warnocks  Jaguars whilst in the second match Lee Smyths Lions defeated Cealum  McNultys Chargers.

The matches were refereed by Pat Walsh and Noel Carr.Well done to all the children taking part and to David Smyth and John McEniff for getting things organised.

Congratulations to Brian McHenry who plays his club hurling with neighbours Aodh Ruadh on winning an Ulster minor hurling  shield medal last weekend.Hard luck to Paul Murphy and Cian McEniff who were part of the Donegal U17 squad defeated by Tyrone in the Ulster League Final.

The minors completed their group league fixtures with an away defeat to Kilcar on Monday.

The U14  girls were defeated by Naomh  Conaill last week. Both the seniors and reserves  were defeated by Naomh Conaill in the league on Sunday afternoon.

ST MICHAEL’S

The seniors were defeated on a scoreline of St Eunan’s  in the league on Sunday, in O’Donnell Park.

An understrength reserve team put on a good performance before also losing. There was no jackpot winner in the mini lotto on Sunday night..  The numbers drawn were 1,4,10,15,16,18.  This week’s Jackpot is €2050. Match 5 Winners were Paul Watters Belfast, Charlene McFadden, Huckleberry Creeslough, Sharon McElhinney, Kill Dunfanaghy and Daniel McColgan Sandhill, Dunfanaghy. They won €25 each.

The club were represented by Hugh Harkin and his daughter Nicola at the Laochra Celebrations in Croke Park on Sunday last.

Congratulations to Kieran McGinley and Odhrán McFadden who were on the victorious Donegal Team that won the Ulster Minor League on Saturday last.

The u-14s  played Downings at home at the Bridge last Sunday evening. The boys drew and they were unlucky not to come away with a result.

The Parish League continues this Sunday at the Bridge from 1.30pm until 3pm.  

The final of the Parish League  will be on the 8th May at the Bridge.  This event will be in aid of new strips for the under 8 and under 10 teams.  All support on the day greatly appreciated.

Well Done to Molly Roarty who was part of the under 16 Donegal team who were away to Fermanagh last Saturday evening.

NAOMH COLUMBA

The club will be hosting a function at the Glen Head Tavern on Saturday 30th next to honour Paddy Beag Mac Giolla Easpaig on receiving the President’s.

Great win for our Minor lads who hosted St Nauls in Pairc na Geal on Monday evening on a very entertaining game we ran out winners. Both men's teams suffered defeats away in MacCumhaill park on Sunday to Sean MacCumhaills.

The ladies suffered a loss at the weekend when they hosted Dungloe on Sunday morning.

NA ROSSA

The seniors play Downings in the Junior Gaeltacht semi final this Sunday afternoon in Glenties. Throw in is at 4.30pm. The Moville league game that was fixed for this  Friday evening has been postponed and rescheduled for Saturday 14th May.

The lotto draw took place last Monday evening in the hall. The numbers drawn were 6,17,27 and 28. There was no jackpot winner on the night. Two lucky dip winners  receive €50. They were  Annie McCready, Doochary and  Peter McDermott, Doochary. Next weeks jackpot now stands at €2800.

The April Club 50 draw also took place on the night. Well done to prize winners Danny Bonner €300, Michael P Bonner €100 and Donal Trimble €50.

LETTERKENNY GAELS

Pride of place this week goes to Letterkenny Gaels minor hurlers on the Donegal squad who won the Ulster Shield against Tyrone.

Players and squad members were Cahair O'Dochartaigh, Brian Diver, Padraig Sweeney, Brendan Finney and Peadar O'Connachain.

The senior and reserve footballers travelled to Dunkineely at the weekend to take on Naomh Ultan.. The reserves drew their game and the seniors lost.

The club ran a very successful public speaking competition at the clubhouse on Monday and Tuesday evening past. The theme was Guthanna/Voices 1916 where local children told stories from the perspective of characters who witnessed the events in Dublin in 1916. Thanks to all who participated, attended and supplied home baking.

The club  were represented in Croke Park on Sunday by club members Hazel and Mark McFadden who were part of the Citizens Parade in the Laochra spectacular.

GAEIL FHANADA

The lotto numbers drawn were 03, 07, 09, 12, 19. Bonus 16. The jackpot was not won but the other winners were €100 winner - Grace Friel, Ladden.  €50 winner - Ben and Tom Roache, St. Eunan’s. Rachel and Declan on duty next week.

The  senior ladies now play Naomh  Muire in the final of Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta this Sunday at 3 pm. in Glenties.  

 Gaeil Fhánada's was representatived by Ódhran Shiels and Eoghan Carr on Donegal Minor team who beat Tyrone in the Ulster Minor league last week. 

Eamon MacGiolla Chearra and Marc MacConaglaigh represented our Club in Croke Park on Sunday. 

ROBERT EMMETTS

The lotto jackpot was not won and there was no match 3 winners last week. The jackpot will now be a massive €5200 on Friday night.

All draws in the club’s five week silver circle will be made on this Sun 24th. April in the Drop-in Centre.  Lines are still available at €10 .

Congratulations and well done to Terence McLaughlin, Jordan Tourish and Ronan Kennedy who had the honour of representing the club  at  the special 1916 commemoration event in Croke Park  last Sunday. The club extends sympathy to the Gamble family, Castlefin on  the sudden death of Leo and whose funeral took place in Derry last Monday.

MILFORD

The Club will be holding its Annual Club Draw in the Clubhouse on May 1st. As usual there is a great selection of prizes to be won and tickets can be purchased from any player or member of the executive.

The seniors got their second away win of the season on Sunday against an understrength Malin team.

It was also a  worthwhile trip to Malin for the reserves as they came away with a vital win.

Well done to Amber Barrett, Niamh Carr and all the Donegal Senior Ladies team and management who have advanced to the Division Two League final.

Well done to Shaun Paul Barrett and his Donegal minor team and mentors who won the Ulster Minor League on  Saturday.

Hard luck to Ryan McMahon, Ronan Docherty and the rest of the Donegal U17 team and management who lost the Ulster U17 League final.

NAOMH BRID

There was no overall winner of this week’s lotto draw.The jackpot now stands at £1650. The numbers drawn were 4, 7, 10, 14, and 23. £25 winners were Edel Quinn, Elizabeth Doherty, Joe Monaghan, and John Mc Glinchey.

The seniors played Burt at the weekend and finished in a draw match. The reserve’s lost by six points and never give up against a good Burt side.

In   the minor league final first leg  Naomh Brid/Pettigo played at home. They lost 3-8 to 2-5.

The U-14 girls picked up another two points at the weekend when Muff were unable to travel.

TERMON

The Seniors and Reserves play Naomh Micheál on Saturday evening, throw in 5.30pm and 7pm.

Ladies: The Juniors played Fanad at home on Saturday in the first game of the league. Unfortunately Fanad left as victors despite a great effort from our girls who fought hard until the final whistle.

The U14 B team met Naomh Muire on Saturday with our girls putting in a great performance, but unfortunately Naomh Muire were the winners.

Fundraising Draw: With the major capital expenditure involved in the training field, we have decided to hold a major fundraising draw, and you are all invited to the official launch of the draw at 10pm on Saturday night in the Lagoon. Full details of the excellent prizes on offer will be announced on the night!

Our U6s and U8s will move to the Burn Road for “FUNdamentals” and coaching from this Saturday. The time remains the same, 10.30-11.30. On Monday our U10s will take part in a much anticipated tournament in Ardara. Throw in is at 10.30 in the opening game vs Naomh Muire so all children must be there for 10am please.

Well done to the U12 boys on a fine display in Naomh Mhuire on Friday evening. All 22 boys played 30 minutes and there were some very impressive performances. This Friday the boys are guests of Four Masters. Throw in is 6.30 so we will leave from The Burn Road at 5pm.

Our U14s play their NRB League Quarter Final at The Burn Road also on Friday evening, 6.45 throw in. N Padraig Muff will provide the opposition in a game that our boys are really looking forward to.

Well done to Enda Mc Cormick and James Mc Sharry and all the Donegal minor team on their Ulster Minor league success last weekend. Sadly there were no celebrations for Barry Gallagher and Paul Doherty and the U17 team but it certainly has been a great few weeks for the Termon lads.

The Seniors and Reserves continued their good form with wins over St. Michael’s on Sunday, the Seniors will travel to Ardara on Friday evening for another Div. 1 league clash at 7pm. It’s unlikely the Reserve game will go ahead at 5:30pm due to players work commitments.

The Junior men suffered a narrow loss last Saturday against neighbours Glenswilly and they are on their travels again this Saturday evening when they go to Glenties to play N. Conaill.

Congratulations to our representatives on the County Minor panel that claimed a 3rd successive Ulster League title on Saturday and to Noel Keaveny who is part of the management team. Niall O’Donnell bagged an impressive 2-03 in the win over Tyrone. The U17’s managed by Brian McGeehin never got going in their final also against Tyrone.

The U14 Northern League q-finals are due to take place this Friday evening, see social media for details of times and venues.

The U14 hurlers travel to Burt for a league game this Thursday evening. The Minor hurlers are at home to Carndonagh. Congratulations to the Donegal minor hurlers and the six St. Eunan's players who won the Ulster minor shield in an epic battle with Tyrone last Friday night and qualified for the A championship in Ulster.

Under 12 Camogie training takes place every Wednesday at 5:30pm in O’Donnell Park for Girls born in years 2006, 2005, 2004. At present the panel number is very small and we are encouraging all girls in this age bracket to come along and try it out for a few weeks. Helmets and Hurls will be provided if necessary. The girls recently played an indoor blitz and their first outdoor game. The girls were excellent in both, with many players only playing camogie for a short number of weeks. Aoibhin Randles has been selected for the Cuman na mBunscoil Camogie panel for the matches that will take place in Croke Park this summer.

Glenswilly

Each week the underage section of the club holds training sessions

which are attended by high numbers of children. However the club is

now appealing for help with a specific age group. The Under 8 age

group is in serious need of help and is appealing to parents to get

involved. There are more than 50 youngsters turning up each week for

training. Any parents who can give a couple of hours of their time is

asked to contact Lee Gildea 086 6059117. Parents do not have to have

GAA coaching experience as all guidance will be given.

U14s: The U14 boys team will face Moville this Saturday in the semi-final of their league. The game throws-in at 11.30am.

LOTTO: The winner of the club lotto last week was Brenda Gibbons of Glenwood Park, Letterkenny who matched three numbers. The winning numbers were 5, 12, 14 and 20.

U12 boys: The U12 boys play their first game of the season at home on Monday next against Red Hughs with a throw-in time of 6.15pm.

Ladies: Training continues for Under 12 girls at the main pitch from 6.30 to

7.30 on Wednesdays. It is great to see so many girls taking part.

Games begin on Tuesday next, 3rd May at 7.15pm.

Under 14 training continues weekly. Girls have a game at home against

Termon on Sunday at 7.30pm The girls will train on Saturday between 3.30pm and 5pm.
