DONEGAL AND BOSTON SERVE UP A BOXING TREAT

Donegal boxing enjoyed a good night on Thursday night as a county select came out on top against a Boston Boxing Academy, in Letterkenny's Clanree Hotel.

Donegal won the 11-bout match by seven bouts to two, with the two ladies fights no contest bouts on an action-packed night of high quality boxing.

The Donegal winners before an almost packed auditorium were Bernie McDonagh, Dunfanaghy BC, Hugh Doherty, St Bridget’s BC, Clonmany, Matthew McCole, Dungloe BC, John Ward and Oran Shields, Letterkenny BC, Lee Boyd, Convoy BC and Mark McCole, Dungloe, BC.

The clash of McGlinchey and Boston’s Tom Hadden was without question, the fight of the night as McGlinchey and Hadden, like two gladiators, went blow for blow over the three two minute rounds.

McGlinchey tore into Hadden from the first bell and landed a number of solid early blows and was the clear winner of the first round. But Hadden rose to the challenge in the second and landed a few early blows to shade that round and it was blow for blow in the third right up to the final bell, with the American getting the verdict at the end.
