St Michael's had to find another gear in the second half to see of a spirited comeback from a depleted Bundoran side in their league clash in Dunfanaghy.

St Michael's . . . . . . . 2-13

Bundoran . . . . . . . . 2-07

The home side started brightly despite playing into a strong head wind. Ciaran Gallagher spurned a good goal opportunity in the first minute but Andrew Kelly got them off the mark with a free in the third minute.

In the fourth minute in a move started by Colm McFadden the ball found its way to the fists of Michael Langan who hit the net making it 1-1. A minute later Michael Gallagher pointed from play and in the eighth minute Colm McFadden pointed from play to leave it 1-3 to no score.

It was the tenth minute before Realt na Mara found their range playing with the strong wind. Gary Clancy hit two frees before Colm McFadden pointed again from play.

Conor Carty made a great save from Christy Toye but he could do little to deny Michael ‘Rock’ Gallagher in the 24th minute. Tommy Hourihane hit back for Bundoran and this was followed up with fine scores from Christy Keaney and Michael McEniff, both from play, as the half ended 2-4 to 0-5.

Like the first half the second half scoring was opened by Andrew Kelly followed by a point from the industrious Lee Carr. Hourihane hit back for the visitors before McFadden pointed a free for St Michael's. Bundoran got back in the tie with a great goal from first half sub Timmy Govorov in the midway point of the half leaving four between them and the visitors were making the most of a lull in the St Michael's pace.

Raymond McLaughlin came off the bench to point for St Michael's while Christy Keaney hit back for Bundoran to leave it 2-8 to 1-7 in the 19th minute. Back to back frees from Andrew Kelly started to put daylight between the sides but a driving shot from Paul Brennan found the net to close the gap at 2-11 to 2-7 with just minutes left.

Kelly pointed two more frees in style to help St Michael run out comfortable winners in the end.
