Marlins Swim Club, Ballyshannon, surely showed off the success of their commitment to early morning intense training sessions at the Ulster Age Group Swimming Championships last weekend in the High Performance Centre, Bangor Aurora, County Antrim.
This is a high quality swimming championship in which six Marlins swimmers qualified in along with 33 other swim clubs from England and Ireland. Marlins SC swimmers Roisin Maguire, Mona McSharry, Mouric McSharry, Cian Rooney, Gero Gilmartin and Cora Rooney took home a total of 19 Ulster Medals and a greater number of personal bests! All six swimmmers proudly took places in the evening swim finals in majority of their events.
For a club from a small town in the North West of Ireland, the swimmers are exceeding their own expectations!
Mona has reached European level and looking amazingly well for Olympics 2020, and winning Ulster Age Group Champion three times last weekend plus three Silver medals.
Roisin, swimming in a tough age group, was showing great form; Gero acheived further Division 1 qualifying times and therefore will be looking forward to July 2016 for this first time in the Irish Age Group Championships at just age 11 along with his fellow club swimmers plus two silver and two bronze medals.
Mouric showed great effort and strong swims in all events taking Ulster Age Group Champion title twice at the weekend plus one silver medal. Cian also showing great promise and strong in his swims taking Ulster Champion also in two of his events plus three silver medals and one bronze.
Cora, the youngest of the club swimmers last weekend, achieved her third Irish Squad Qualifying time as she powered through her finals achieving a total of six Ulster Age Group Champion titles.
