Donegal's fade-out factor

Donegal's fade-out factor

With Donegal heading to Croke Park on Sunday to face the Dubs in the league semi-final, one of the stats that has been surfacing in recent games is a fade-out in terms of scoring in the final quarter, writes Peter Campbell

It was especially to the fore in the last two games - no score against Monaghan last Sunday in last 21 minutes, while they managed just one point against Dublin in the last 23 minutes the previous weekend.

Looking at the stats for the entire league, there is inconsistency, but in the four games we lost, we scored just 1-6 in all in a total of 87 minutes of football. That should be a cause for some concern.

The stats for the seven league games were

V Down - 1-5 in final 17 minutes

V Cork - 0-1 in final 21 minutes

V Mayo - 1-4 in final 23 minutes

V Kerry - 1-1 in final 31 minutes

V Roscommon - 0-4 in final 12 minutes

V Dublin - 0-1 in last 23 minutes

V Monaghan - no score in last 21 minutes.
