A goal from Darragh Brogan in the first half was the important score in this close opening encounter in Trummon.
Most of the action was in the opening half as Naomh Brid went in ahead by 1-5 to 0-5, Conor McBrearty accounting for four of the Gaels points, while two quick points from John McNulty and a good save by Pauric McDaid were also important.
The second half was a dour affair with just three points scored. Naomh Brid lost Brogan to a black card late on. The game also saw the return to action of county star, David Walsh, after recent toe surgery.

Naomh Colmcille and Naomh Ultan fought out a high scoring draw on Saturday to share the spoils.
In a sporting, hard fought, game both sides traded scores and it was an Alan Lyons goal that helped put daylight between the sides at half-time with Naomh Ultan going in at the break ahead 1-6 to 0-8.
The second half saw Naomh Colmcille fight their way back into the game and boths sides traded scores up to the final whistle where the sides finished level in a well matched contest.
Among the Naomh Colmcile scorers were Joe Donaghey 0-6; Michael Lynch, Daniel Clarke, Ryan Dowds, William Lynch and the equalising point from Ciaran Devine.

A goal from Mark Friel just before half-time proved to be the decisive score in a close game. It helped Fanad to a 1-6 to 0-5 half-time lead and they just about held on in the second half.

Buncrana got their league campaign off to a winning start with a comfortable victory over Downings in the Scarvey on Saturday.
Garbhan Friel was the stand out player for Buncrana who also had good displays from Caolan McGonagle and Peter McLaughlin in midfield and John Campbell at centre half-forward.
